Gypsy Jazz Trio
In 2005, an encounter of three jazz musicians –each of a different formation- lead to the birth of the “Gypsy Jazz Trio”. A trio starring Dario Pinelli, Claudio Rollo, and Achille Matricardi.
Impassioned by the ‘gypsy’ style created by the legendary Django Reinhardt, the three musicians quickly climbed the vertex of world classification of acoustic jazz.
Soon they were recongnised as one of the greatest and most illustrious names of the gypsy jazz world along with stars such as: Stochelo Rosenberg, Angelo Debarre, Dorado Schmidt, Bireli Lagrène, Tchavolo Schmitt, etc.
In 2006, Serge Gallato (one of the most noted guitar constructors of the Maccaferri style), and ‘Savarez Argentine’ (a preeminent mark of guitar chords/strings), took a serious interest in the rising artists and became the official sponsors of the group.
Recently, the signature guitar of the soloist has been produced and distributed throughout Europe and the United States entitled 'Dario Pinelli Gallato 1939'.
The repertoire of the trio -which ranges from 1930’s American swing to the French musette waltz- is presented by the artists Dario Pinelli on the solo guitar, Claudio Rollo with the rhythmic guitar and Achille Matricardi on the double-bass.
Claudio Rollo, an excellent jazz pianist and swing guitarist, is one of the most accredited and creative rhythmic guitarists in the ‘Django Style’. Joining him on the double-bass with great flavour and precision is Achille Matricardi.
During a tour of the United States last August, Dario Pinelli recorded a live cd with the famous Hawaiian musician, Armando Imua’ikalanakila Garza. The record consists of five songs, all performed in the gypsy style with the guitar and ukulele. Arranged and mixed by the artists themselves entitled “Kanikapila” which means, “Let’s jam”.
Il “Gypsy Jazz Trio” nasce nel 2005 dall’incontro di tre musicisti jazzisti di differenti formazione: Dario Pinelli, Claudio Rollo e Achille Matricardi.
Lo stile, che è quello manouche iniziato da Django Reinhardt, amalgama subito i tre musicisti ed in breve tempo li porta ai vertici delle classifiche mondiali di jazz acustico con il cd “The Godfathers”.
Presto vengono inseriti tra i più grandi ed illustri nomi del jazz manouche, quali: Stochelo Rosenberg, Angelo Debarre, Dorado Schmidt, Tchavolo Schmitt, Bireli Lagrène, ecc.
Nel 2006 il francese Serge Gallato, tra i più noti costruttori di chitarre in stile Maccaferri, si interesserà al trio diventando, insieme al prestigioso marchio di corde “Savarez Argentine”, sponsor ufficiale della formazione.
Ultimamente è stata prodotta e distribuita in Europa e negli Stati Uniti la chitarra (Gallato 1939 signature Dario Pinelli).
Il repertorio del trio, che spazia dallo swing americano degli anni ’30 al walzer musette francese, viene proposto dai tre musicisti con Dario Pinelli alla chitarra solista, Claudio Rollo alla chitarra ritmica e Achille Matricardi al contrabbasso.
Dario Pinelli, inserito nell’élité dei più apprezzati chitarristi solisti al mondo nello stile Gypsy-manouche, è anche il più giovane tra questi.
Claudio Rollo eccellente pianista jazz e chitarrista swing, è uno dei più accreditati e creativi chitarristi ritmici nello stile di Django, affiancato da Achille Matricardi contrabbassista di gran gusto e precisione.
Nell’agosto scorso Dario Pinelli, durante il Tour negli USA, ha registrato, con il noto musicista Hawaiano Armando Imua’ikalanakila Garza, un “live” di cinque brani in stile gypsy per chitarra e ukulele, arrangiato dagli stessi musicisti ed intitolato “Kanikapila”.
