Sounds Like
...A drunken Monkees jam session in Tijuana... I am the bastard child of Keith Richard and Dean Martin. I LOVE the sound of pop rock from the mid-60's, perhaps more than life itself. We stradle the line between the hip and the corny, like a slug sliding across the edge of a straight razor. The band incorporates strong melodies, lots of harmonies, and classic sounds from the period - lots of fuzz guitar, kooky organ and crazy tambourine; with a latin flavor in the mix.
I am Dario Rosa. I am a man obsessed with the groovy look and explosive sound of the 1960's. Have been my whole life. I was born in 1969. I saw my first Monkees episode when they began re-running them ..noon TV in 1973. I was hooked. From that moment i knew i wanted to sing and play guitar; to be in a band and experience and enjoy everything that comes with it. Started my first band at 14. Been in a dozen since then - everything from rock to reggae to gospel to mambo. Love country too. But it's the pop rock of the 60's, in all its forms - folk, garage, psyche, that inspires me to do what I do. And I have a great band that helps me do it. Wouldn't have gotten to far without Lady Ann, Bobby Genser, Zack Littlefield, as well as all my other friends and former bandmates...... BACKSTORY:
Dario Rosa has been playing guitar in bands and enjoying the Rock 'n Roll lifestyle since he was 14. After migrating to Boulder with his high school buddy William Yale (founder of The United Dope Front and engineer/producer of RokBox Analog Fidelity) he founded the internationally infamous mambo band Cabaret Diosa in 1995. Going solo in 2003, he released "Man of Leisure", an instrumental record of 60's hits. Rosa also made a name for himself as DJ Dario, spinning vintage vinyl at Denver's Skylark Lounge, The Streets of London, and the Diamond Cabaret. He largely left the dj life to once again concentrate on playing live and put together a rock band with his long time compadre and writing partner Mendel Rabinovitch in 2004. Some early members included Scotty B. (Nightingale), Ela Jaszczak (Hawks of Paradise, formerly of Sun Has Risen, Pacific Pride and the Omens), Jason McDaniel (Lint!, Manataur), Kim Franco (aka Montana Del Fuego (Cabaret Diosa, Fragga, Company Ink), Sam Cooper (The Body Electric), Jonathan Byerley (The Nightmare Fighters) and William Yale. The early incarnations played about a few dozen shows at the Larimer Lounge, the Hi-Dive, the Skylark Lounge, the Forest Room 5, Trilogy, the Boulder Theater and the Fox Theatre. Notable shows included opening for friends Devotchka and the British punk veterens The Fall. After many personel changes, a new incarnation has formed and is the best yet. A new EP entitled "The Psychic Power of Dario Rosa" is availible now. More new recordings to be released soon... Oh Babies!

I was thinking about the sound of laughter a few days ago. My brain was shaking the sounds from my memory. Frequent voices rung vibrantly and yours came to my ears. The laughter you share is so classically Dario. Glad it's a frequent to my ear waves.
Hey Dario, thanks for the friend request, it's always nice to meet another musician whose earliest memories include Monkees re-runs! They certainly made it look like a good line of work to be in, didn't they. Now if I could just find (or afford) a red '66 GTO...
Anyway, take care, and remember to always start your day with a bowl full of That Satisfying Crunch!
