Established in the second half of 2006; Dark Essence has been pumping out the finest EBM, darkwave and industrial tunes weekly on Brisbane's independent community radio station 4ZzZfm.
Hosted by Josh Guinan, Dark Essence can be heard every Monday evening from 8pm til 10pm on 102.1fm. Our analog signal can be received across Brisbane and out to parts of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and Toowoomba.

ABOUT THE STATION: 4ZZZ is Brisbane's best independent radio station, blasting fresh local and underground music through your radio. We represent all styles of sound, most of which are ignored by mainstream media outlets. Unlike most other radio stations, our announcers don't adhere to playlists - this means they play what they want to, when they want to.

Although we don't have to pay large commercial licensing fees or large salary bills, we still incur all the running costs of any radio station: commercial or community. All our fundraising is done independently and we are fiercely proud of this independence.

The Programming structure of 4ZZZ can be divided two ways; "strip" and "block" shows. Strip shifts are your basic music shift, where a wide variety of music and information is broadcast. Block shifts, on the otherhand cater for a specific group of listeners; playing music (and broadcasting information) of a certain stylistic range.

The stations main source of income is generated from subscribers. As well as helping us stay on the air you get many great benefits (especially if you subscribe as a band / solo artist / DJ / business) plus discounts at Subscriber outlets around Brisbane. A QUICK NOTE ON FRIEND REQUESTS: Due to the volume of friend requests coming through it may take a while for me to get around to you. If you're a band and I like what I hear I'll be in touch! I tend to accept bands who fit the style of the show (exceptions for local / Australian groups within reason) and individuals with similar music interests. Dark Essence is NOT a metal show however will consider metal artists with relevance to the program.
