"Here's one that should make some of us fall into a dark, pulsating, "when will it stop?!?" drug infulenced flashback. Brainbug's 'Nightmare' was a track that I could not get enough of back in the days when I thought progressive was trance. I'm so glad I figured that one out eventually. Anywho, when I saw that track being re-released with a new remix I had to check it out. Lots of dubstep drops in this one and an overall heavy electro rework. Of course, my favorite little chime line is still there!"
"Half dubstep, half evil electro, Darkartois continues on his mission to make us slaves to the wobble with this remix of Brainbug. “Nightmare,” actually mimics its name, but don’t let that scare you away. Filled with dark undertones and switches between a more traditional 4/4 and straight up dubstep breakdowns, he finds a nice balance that seems to be working well for other artists at the moment, like Hostage. I’m a dubstep fan, and tracks like these make it so I can integrate those influences into my sets easily."
Here's another track from the UK native, Vegas residing Darkartois.
"As much as I enjoyed his Queen remix, this track steps everything up a bit; the bass, the dark, murky atmosphere and the overall quality. 'Nightmare' is filled with low end goodness and some gothic sounding orchestral stabs, perfect for the end of the night."
"First up we've got Darkartois. Originally from the UK, but now residing in Las Vegas delivers some bass-heavy music that doesn't disappoint. I really enjoy this remix, especially the extended intro that features those Freddie Mercury vocals that I adore."
"CJ Allen, probably my favorite person in Las Vegas who is originally from Ireland (ok, favorite person in Las Vegas period) just did a remix of AC Slater’s “Hello” under his new alias Darkartois, which he says has nothing to with his love of nightlife and Stella Artois - I call foul! This remix of “Hello” is nice and minimal for the most part then around 2:20 gets all dark and wobbly on your ass without prior warning. This would work wonders for fans in multiple genres of electronic music. Granted, overall it is a bit tracky but because of that I could actually see overlaying some fun acapella or doing some live tricks with it."
neON! BLOG <3
"neON! has another remix, but this one sounds so completely different from the sounds they’ve been producing as of late. CJ Allen of neON! has expressed a desire to expand his production boundaries and this certainly reflects that. Minimal, dark and with heavy techno influences, their take on “Santeria” turns the feel of the original on its head with deeper undertones. I love the subtle panned percussion in the background and the echoed samples that peek through about midway into the track."
"neON! are baaaack with a remix of Heads We Dance’s “The Human Touch.” Here’s a great little story about collaboration and how these guys came to work with each other - CJ Allen of neON! saw one of their tunes on a Heads We Dance mixtape, thanked them for it and as a result, got asked to remix “The Human Touch.” Awww. I’m really getting into these guys’ productions and this remix is no exception. It goes from being bright and synthy to getting a bit more evil about halfway through, all without losing the integrity of the structure. Towards the end, it goes back to some of the original patterns, providing a great payoff."
"Flavor Flaaaaaaaaaaav! Ha. Yeah, this is a good party track, neON! made a pretty hard banging tune out of Public Enemy’s “Harder Than You Think”. Public Enemy is timeless, theres no question about it, the fact that they’re still rocking shit today (IE: Ring The Bells, P4K Festival, etc.) as well as they did way back then is damn respectable… And Flav’s the man. neON! did a good job of keeping it real with this remix by not selling out and making it a lame, commercial track like Benassi did.
Just like that. Gangsta boogie. Bust a move… Thats all you need to know."
