DARK AWAKE was born in 1998 with the union between Gerard V. and Joan A. Erik M., would join later as our first drummer. After some attempts Enric H. became a member of the band. Thus, the line-up was complete. With this line-up -Gerard V., Joan A., Erik M. And Enric H.-, DARK AWAKE recorded the first demo called, RAGNAROK(1999). Although it should have had 10 tracks initially, technical problems due to incompetence reduced the total number to 8, the remaining two being mysteriously lost... One of the demos songs, Hypocrisy of Love was recorded for a CD gathering the music done in those days in Montcada i Reixach (Barcelona). The band appears among 12 other bands providing MONTCADA SONA 1999 with its unique touch since the style of the remaining bands had little in common with DARK AWAKE. By that time DARK AWAKE was characterised by a unique style, free of imitations and limitations, with melodies influenced by Thrash Metal, Industrial Metal and Metal in general.
After Joan A.s abandonement as the bassist of the band some months were needed until we found the ideal bassist. With Oscar the band gained serenity and solemnity since he provided it with new ideas and considerably uplifted the level of the lyrics for hes been the one in charge for composing them since then, always giving them a real dark tinge. Later it would be Erik M., the drummer, who decided that he could not get involved with the band any longer. Many months passed by, as well as 4 wannabe drummers, until we met a drummer for DARK AWAKE and we hit the nail on the head. Ramon C.fitted in exactly and provided the band with confidence and cohesion.
We made a radical change since our music recovered much power and got strengthened especially thanks to the energy of the new members and the influence of Swedish Death Metal. And again, with or without influences, DARK AWAKEsounded differently to anyone else and with a clear own style. After a year of musical settlement 2003- of the definitive line-up -Gerard V., Enric H., Òscar R. and Ramón C.- a selection of songs was made in order to include them in a CD. 7 songs and about 45 minutes composed the CD entitledEPHEMERAL, for ephemeral are our lives... In it we try to reflect the way cruelty and darkness shadow our days, transient, like us.

DARK AWAKE, keen on new experiences took part in 2005 through Gerard V. and Enric H. along with the musician known as NACH in the creation of a composition for the Spanish Basketball League, i.e. ACB. What is more, EPHEMERALbecame the soundtrack of an intriguing Italian short film entitled Qualcuno cé Sempre -Theres Always Someone-, by Primissimo Piano Lately the band has been composing new songs that we hope everyone will be able to enjoy in a near future, giving another turn of the screw and creating a harder and more profound sonority we are sure you'll appreciate. Of these, only the titles can be advanced, among them: Nethermost, Fallen from Grace, Knowledge Through Suffering, Once Upon the Graveyard, Revenant and some other surprises.
