"Amazing...another indication that Sheffield is crawling with talent" (STEVE LAMACQ, RADIO 1)
"Make sure you're sitting down down for this next track...its' raw energy and power alone will knock you off your feet!" (ZANE LOWE, RADIO 1)
"Hearing this (Flat Screen Suicide) makes me wish I could just pick up a guitar and thrash out in front of thousands of people. I'm sure these guys will be doing jsut that very soon" (PHIL CLIFTON XFM)
"Rocks not only your socks but also your ears off! Succumb; you know it makes sense!" (JON HOLMES, 6 MUSIC)
STUDENT RADIO
GK Radio (Stoke on Trent) - "Darke Horse are currently on our B list but proving so popular they may move up to A list next week!"
Rare FM (London) - "Catchy riffs, melody and lyrics...would like to hear more!""
HFM (Lancashire) - "It is a swaggering piece of rock n roll and shows real promise, even though it does have a slight retro 'Chilli Pepper's' feel to it. But they have their guitars set to stun with riffs abounding and its all good fun."
Fly FM (Nottingham) - "...all their songs are very catchy!"
Burst FM (Bristol) - "Flat Screen Suicide strikes a fine balance between classic rock and funk."
Burn FM (Birmingham) - "With ‘Flat Screen Suicide’, Darke Horse have created a catchy tune with riffs and a chorus that look to inspire much (perhaps drunken) revelry. Undertones of Aerosmith versus RunDMC whilst ‘Jack’s My Friend’ is likewise very much chorus orientated, easy to sing along to. This is supported by some good strong guitar action and good drumming."
URB (Bath) - "Darke Horse have a good set of tracks with the highlights being Flatscreen Suicide and Reinvent Your Accent. Flatscreen Suicide is a catchy and danceable little tune. Overall, they're full of interesting riffs and bopping bass lines."
PRESS
"The sound of this band is rock with lots of roll, especially with their mesmerising riffs and pounding bass line...even for the people who have never seen or heard these lads before, they found themselves singing away to the catchiest of lyrics and tunes." Gail Buckthorpe (Sandman Magazine)
"Their set was a real crowd-pleaser with something for everyone - the clapalong choruses, fast-fingered guitar solos, stick-twirling drummer and some good interaction with the crowd...the remainder of the set was peppered with similar chorus-friendly songs which could make the debut album a real unit-shifter." Pete Martin (Sandman Magazine)
"An intelligent rock onslaught of crashing drums, grinding bass, and driving guitars built around strong catchy lyrics...the audience were just dragged into the world of Darke Horse without so much as a single complaint" (Sheffield Music Scene)

Darke Horse have just recorded seven songs during a week-long studio session with the writer/recorder/producer legend that is Alan Smyth. Smyth has worked his musical magic with many a Sheffield hero, including Arctic Monkeys, Reverend & The Makers and Richard Hawley, so what wizardry will he have worked for the boys?

MUSIC VIDEO FOR DEBUT SINGLE FLAT SCREEN SUICIDE!!!
Darke Horse's rollercoaster ride to the here-and-now started at the end of 2007 in Sheffield, after friends Simon Kaviani, Chris Gill, Joe Pearson and Jonno Lodge resolved to bring entertaining rock back into the mainstream. Little did they think that the following six months would take from the humble surroundings of the back of a cushion factory to the middle of a recording studio with local producer legend Alan Smyth.
The Sheffield foursome, who are releasing Flat Screen Suicide via Noise Control Records, are already starting to get tongues wagging. Their first review in Sandman, describes Darke Horse's demo as a "barnstorming effort from the Sheffield foursome," with Flat Screen Suicide hailed "a funky slab of unadulterated fun." It's no wonder then that BBC Radio on their 'Raw Talent' programme told listeners that Darke Horse could be one of the bands to break through big in 2009...
Simon Kaviani has also been voted as best guitarist in the national 'Rock Idol' competition and his song 'Vein of Wrath' won the Riffathon songwriting competition, a competition set up by Jimmy Page and Brian May in 2006.
