Influences
We are lovers of music as much as we are musicians and this page doesn't have enough space to give love to all the bands that have inspired us but to name a few for reference...
zero 7, massive attack, radiohead, bjork, portishead, sade, air, the police, iron and wine, john mayer, coldplay...
Sounds Like
Depressed Jelly Beans in Woolen Sox sprouted by the Moon somewhere in the Woods of Finland!!!!
L.M.A are Lisa Maria Ahlström’s initials. She is the folk-rock influenced triphop goddess, Elemay.
Ahlström is evidence that Finland can produce more than just cold imageries, a vast land covered in bright white snow and she defies the notion that Finnish music is synonymous with strictly metal or that music could be even considered as geographical phenomena. Music is universal and so is Elemay.
Her nordic roots are still in their place even though a permanent residence is found in Los Angeles, California. This snowflake traveled to Hollywood in 2004 where she attended Musician's Institute, majoring in vocals but finally found her niche in recording. School is also where she met her future sounding boards, each with an impressive resume of their own: Sound Engineer Jim Morgan, musicians Douglas Showalter, Bennie Rodgers II, Joel Van Dijk, Peter Dyer, Bana Haffar and Osmo Ikonen, a talented musician/singer also from Finland. As much as Elemay is a solo project it's also a strong unit with several collaborators.
A force to be reckoned with as Elemay not only writes her own material, but to up her geek status she also has a degree in sound engineering. A high work ethic and admirable drive compels her to create her own original sounds by experimenting and exploring new recording methods with her band to capture the right feel for each song. Her love for vintage recording equipment and utilization of modern technology also in a sense explains where she is musically: Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but definitely something blue- like her sound. (She is also the founder and captain of Blue Living Room Entertainment.)
Elemay possesses a strong vision for her craft and image. As a fan of the art form of music she intends to bring something unique to the musical landscape of today by dismissing expectations and a shortsighted single-use mentality. She seeks to produce honest songs, organic and soft with an electronic edge.
Already having a full length in her back pocket, she is ready to introduce new material. With Elemay, pop fell down the rabbit hole- it's dark pop with a high note endings. Each new song a treasure map of emotions and bad beats gone good. Experimental yet well-mannered, music even your mother would like to meet. Her sound is what one would think a nordic siren would produce in Tinsel Town.
Some might argue that we have reached a point where you can't reinvent the wheel but for arguments sake maybe you can discover different usage for it- as Elemay has done. Each snowflake is unique and essentially you can't have competition when you're in a league of your own.

Happy Holidays to you. Be well. I've read that the holidays can be very depressing to some. If you know someone like that, share this with them :)
1 of the most effective "natural cures" ever documented (really) 4 depression...
Have them stand in front of a mirror...smile...bigger...no, even bigger...that's it...an honest to goodness ear 2 ear smile! Look at you...standing there...strong...powerful...nothing is impossible for you...no limitations...you are the earth...you are the sky...and they are you...now, laugh...bigger...one of those gut bursting, side hurting, deep belly laughs...that's it. :)
