I love church, my family, my wonderful new house, writing, art of all kinds (drawing, sculpting, etc. I am creatively obsessed!), the beautiful state of Florida (where I dream of someday residing), billiards (someday soon I will have my own table!), tacky Hawaiian shirts, the Halloween season, gothic photography, Disney theme parks and Disneyana, the ocean, NASA and space exploration, horror/sci-fi movies and related memorabilia, collecting original E.C. horror comics, collecting SPEED RACER merch, cats and dogs, collecting guitar picks from metal bands, baseball (go Railcats!), football (Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders), bowling, paintball, golf (even though I suck sooooooo badly), NHRA drag racing, music (listening to, learning, and playing)... My Jackson Rhoads-style "V" and B.C. Rich Mockingbird are two of my best friends!
Music
My number one love is classic thrash metal, such as KREATOR, (OLD) METALLICA, MEGADETH, SODOM, CELTIC FROST, VOIVOD, TESTAMENT, SEPULTURA, EXODUS, OVERKILL, ANIHILATED, SLAYER, WATCHTOWER, DEATH ANGEL, DESTRUCTION, DARK ANGEL, EXUMER, RAVEN, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, HALLOW'S EVE, ANTHRAX, VIO-LENCE, MACHINE HEAD, DEATHROW, WHIPLASH, DEATH, POSSESSED, METAL CHURCH, BLIND ILLUSION, FORBIDDEN, EXHORDER, MILITIA, RIGOR MORTIS, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, ABATTOIR, AGENT STEEL, HEATHEN, KUBLAI KHAN, SANCTUARY, NEVERMORE, EXCITER, CORONER, ATROPHY, ARTILLERY, SACRIFICE, SABBAT, ANNIHILATOR, SENTINEL BEAST, HOLY TERROR, etc., etc..
I am also really loving the "new wave" of thrash metal bands, including DIAMOND PLATE, BONDED BY BLOOD, ARMORED ASSASSIN, MANTIC RITUAL, WITCHAVEN, VIOLATOR, WARBRINGER, EXMORTUS, EVILE, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, DECEPTOR, KOMBAT, WARPATH, LAZARUS A.D., HATCHET, ARCH ENEMY, DEKAPITATOR, HEXEN, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, VINDICATOR, SAVAGE SKULL, ENFORCER, DESECRATE, PREMUNTION, SKELETONWITCH and GAMA BOMB among others.
There is always a place for classic power metal, such as ICED EARTH, MANOWAR, IRON MAIDEN, PANTERA, MOTORHEAD, MERCYFUL FATE/KING DIAMOND, JUDAS PRIEST, YNGWIE J. MALMSTEEN/RISING FORCE, ANVIL, DRAGONFORCE, SAXON, WARLORD, etc., etc.
Classic doom metal, such as TROUBLE and CANDLEMASS, always puts a smile on my face.
Classic death metal, such as MORBID ANGEL, MORTICIAN and NILE, makes me feel alive.
Classic "punk" metal, such as THE MISFITS, SAMHAIN, RAMONES, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, PLASMATICS, EXCEL, etc., helps me to feel at one with society.
And, of course, let us not forget to pay tribute to the King of Kings with Christian metal/rock bands such as ULTIMATUM, FROST LIKE ASHES, STRYPER, BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE, SHOWDOWN, LIVING SACRIFICE, MORTIFICATION, EXTOL, PILLAR, etc.
I'm a BIG fan of the 80s Chicago metal scene, including bands such as TROUBLE, WRATH, TYRANT'S REIGN, DAMIEN THORNE, THRUST, WAR CRY, DAGOTH (hey Jason and Rick!), HAMMERON, TEMPTER, METAL ONSLAUGHT, ZOETROPE, AMULANCE, SLAUTER XSTROYES, MORTAR (thanks, Scott!), STYGIAN and MAELSTROM among many others...
Currently spinning in heavy rotation on my beloved iPod: "Metal On Metal" by ANVIL, "Forged In Fire" by ANVIL and "This Is Thirteen" by ANVIL.

I have always had a weakness for B-Movies (as in "Bad" Movies!) You know... cheesy horror/sci-fi/exploitation/post-apocalyptic films from the 70s to today's crapola...
I pretty much love everything by Fulci, Romero, Cronenberg, Carpenter, Coscarelli and some occasional Argento thrown into the bloody mix... From the new breed of horror directors, Mike Mendez, Nacho Cerda, James Gunn, Guillermo del Toro and Eli Roth impress me mightily.
Weird, psychological flicks like ERASERHEAD, THE MACHINIST, THE JACKET, DONNIE DARKO, and JACOB'S LADDER makes my twisted brain happy...
The occasional comedy such as ANIMAL HOUSE, SPINAL TAP, ROCK 'N' ROLL HIGH SCHOOL, HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE, BORAT, 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN, DODGEBALL, THE RINGER, CADDYSHACK, HAPPY GILMORE, KINGPIN, OFFICE SPACE, KUNG POW, MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, KNOCKED UP, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, THE HANGOVER etc., etc., makes me laugh (even when I know I sometimes shouldn't)...
Superhero stuff like SPIDERMAN 1 & 2, IRON MAN, X-MEN series, BATMAN films (particularly the incredible DARK KNIGHT, but we'll exclude the two directed by Schumacher), THE PUNISHER, DAREDEVIL, HELLBOY 1&2, etc., etc., thrills me..
An occasional human drama or two will stealthily infiltrate my viewing screen and warm my cold, jaded heart. I greatly appreciate films such as THE NATURAL, AMERICAN HISTORY X, AN UNFINISHED LIFE, RORY O'SHEA WAS HERE, and THE STATION AGENT (a wonderful, understated little movie that I can watch over and over again).
And, of course, anything with zombies absolutely RULES!
Be sure to join my STARCRASH tribute group (recently updated with a review/essay and tons of new images/video)! http://groups.myspace.com/starcrash

Television
I'm not a big TV fan. If it's not a movie, I'm generally not interested. Some television favorites from the past, though, include SPEED RACER (the greatest television show ever created), NIGHT STALKER, ARK II, DARK SHADOWS, NIGHT GALLERY, SPACE: 1999, UFO, THUNDERBIRDS, BABYLON 5, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (1979), STAR TREK (in most incantations) and probably a few more my feeble brain can't remember at the moment. Currently, I do enjoy (new) BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, FAMILY GUY and, for some strange reason, AMERICAN IDOL.
LOGAN'S RUN (Nolan/Johnson), LOGAN'S WORLD (Nolan), BOOKS OF BLOOD (Barker), NIGHT SHIFT (King), INTENSITY (Koontz), DAMNATION ALLEY (Zelazny), THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, anything by H.P. Lovecraft, "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak (one of the greatest early influences in my life) and, of course, the Bible.
An author of six published books, several short stories and poetry, I have been writing professionally for over 15 years. My specialty is horror fiction with underlying Christian themes- an unusual mix of gore and faith, but it seems to work!
Before pursuing my personal writing endeavors, I had the great honor and privelege of publishing/editing the PHANTASM "phanzine" THE SENTINEL and the anthology book "PHANTASM: FURTHER EXCURSIONS INTO OBLIVION (both fully endorsed by PHANTASM creator Don Coscarelli). To this day, the PHANTASM film series holds a place near and dear to my black heart and shall always serve as a tremendous source of creative inspiration.

ABOUT MY "MYSPACE" (Please Read Before Making a Friend Request): If you wish to make a friend request, that's great! Chances are I'll approve you after paying a visit your page. But please observe these few very simple rules:
1. If you want to be my MySpace friend, then please be a friend and say something to me. Once approved, post a comment, leave a message, ANYTHING... Friends communicate, right? Be a friend to me and I'll be one to you.
2. If you do post a comment, please avoid using profanity or overly suggestive images. It will be deleted. I am a Christian (albeit an atypical one) and even though I love gory movies, heavy metal, and writing horror fiction, I don't need or want anyone splattering my page with F-bombs or other nonsense.
3. BANDS - Please feel free to continue submitting add requests and I'll keep adding you to my friends list. I believe strongly in providing any support possible to new artists on the rise. However, please revisit rule number one above before submitting your friend request. I don't care if you are in a band- If you're humble enough to send me a friend request, then you're not too big to say "hi" once I do approve it.

Who I'd like to meet: Sadly, many talents I have admired greatly have already passed on, such as virtuoso guitarists Randy Rhoads and Denis D'Amour (aka "Piggy" from VOIVOD), H.P. Lovecraft, (Italian horror director) Lucio Fulci, Bruce Lee, Brandon Lee, Walt Disney and the inimitable, prophetic Brother Theodore.
I would love the opportunity to meet some of the wonderful friends I have made here at MySpace. I think the world of you guys and would love to give all of you an in-person hug. And lest I forget the mighty Necromanteum, whose friendship I have valued long before this monolithic entity known as MySpace gained my attention.
Some amazing talents in the here and now I would like to meet (or have an opportunity to meet again): H.R. Giger (an amazing artist who I actually did have the pleasure of meeting back in 1979!), David Cronenberg, George Romero (a true gentleman!), Don Coscarelli, Angus Scrimm, Roger Corman, Dario Argento, (CELTIC FROST's) Tom G. Fischer, actress Catriona MacColl, actress Caroline Munro (a beautiful, wonderful lady), Stitch (from LILO AND STITCH), Quentin Tarantino, Steve Buscemi and Stan Lee.
Last, but certainly not least, I would love to meet all creative people of faith and any of my wonderful readers.
Please be sure to visit my friend and fellow author Glen Alan Hamilton's excellent new web site at www. glenalanhamilton.com and enjoy his outstanding, brutal brand of horror fiction!
Thanks for wanting to be my friend! Feel free to say hey anytime. I'm running a contest right on my blog-- go read the first chapter of my next horror novel and post a comment, and you may win a free book! It's a great way to see if you like my work! You can read it here, or www.longcrazyroad.blogspot.com.
Thanks! Seriously- keep in touch! I'm not a fan of friend armies. I love to get to know fellow artists, authors, readers, anybody!
