Terry: Alkaline Trio, Sheryl Crow, Hank Williams, classic horror movies, the world and life in general, Noah: Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Joseph: rock n' roll with a dark edge, ambient and eerie soundscapes, all things horror and Halloween
Sounds Like
"I think I finally figured out who you remind me of. Ready? A weird mix of Zappa, Jane's Addiction, R.E.M., and the Dead Milkmen."
--Sin (of Antidote Records)
"An interestingly weird band mixing influences and sounds from all ends of the musical spectrum but, unlike many avant-garde and artsy bands, this WORKS to their advantage."
--Black Angel Promotions
"Dark Humor is a genre crossing hayride with fangs. Truly a break from the norm and a lot of fun to listen to. These guys are talented AND weird. A combination that can definitely be appreciated these days in the face of so much musical dreck..."
--William Thorn (of Nevermore Radio)
"Quality!! I really like your style -- you can't go wrong with catchyness -- ain't that what they say?!"
--Porcelain Mary
"You guys got a great sound, very Melvinesque!! I love it!!"
--Test Pilot
"Terry's voice is fantastic and the guitar play is heavy and crunchy sometimes and the acoustic thingy is a perfect contrast to it."
--Patrick Pickel

With its members hailing from different sections of the United States, Dark Humor is gradually building a fan base as diverse as their music. Since late 2003, the new lineup -- consisting of founding members Terry Rice and Noah joined by newbie Joseph Y. Kamiya -- have been working tirelessly on original material for a new studio album. Instead of following the crunchy punk-rock riffs and shouted expletives of their first album, they began to haunt more diverse regions of sonic soundscape. This resulted in acoustic ballads, gothic-romance rockers, and even some folk/country tunes. [Its] charming, says Chicago rocker Ahab Rex. Lots of lo-fi charm and pop sense bleeding through.
Mainstream critics criticize Dark Humors experimentalism, branding it inconsistent and/or overtly strange. For the underground audience, Dark Humor is one of the risk-takers who have abandoned interest in everything acceptable to the average listener. Their courage to push traditional song structures and to break the boundaries of genres is attracting indie bands, listeners, and promoters alike. Sin, owner of @ntidote Records, describes them as a weird mix of [Frank] Zappa, Janes Addiction, R.E.M., and the Dead Milkmen. You cant go wrong with catchyness, says U.K.s alternative rock threesome, Porcelain Mary, Aint that what they say?!
Although the band is currently unable to bring Dark Humor to life through live performances, Terry, Noah, and Joseph shall continue to sow musical chaos that will spread through stereo and computer speakers all over the multiverse and beyond...

"Some whacky crap! It made me smile... Bravo!"
--Stu Charno ("Ted" from Friday The 13th Part Two)
"You never cease to amaze me. If I could describe you guys in two words it would be 'musical geniuses.' And with songs like From My Little Black Heart To Yours, Dream Me Awake, A Sad Song, and Scarred, you prove it... I'm nothing but impressed."
--Andres Muerte (of Skin 30)
"I think y'all would be an asset to any label, indie or national. It's always great to hear something new, and even better, innovative. I think it takes balls to try and excel as a band that really can't be put into a specific genre. You have something for everyone, it's just a matter of getting people -- namely mainstream only fans -- to hear the tunes."
--Luke
"The only bad thing about your music is that it's making me rethink my decision to give up hallucinogens a couple of years ago."
--Sin (of Antidote Records)
"Some of the new material is positively beautiful. A Sad Song in particular; it sent a shiver down my spine..."
--Owen Plohr
"YUMZ!!! Love you guys. Your tunage makes me very happy (Oh, is that bad?)."
--Deva (of DEVAMACHINE)
"Beautiful... Hands down refreshing... Good to know good tunes are around... Real music for sure!"
--D.W. Larson (of Light Comedy)
"Nevermore Radio is proud to soon be presenting Dark Humor for their, well, dark humour. While mainly a gothic radio show, since I'm the creative control nazi, Dead Things and other selections go on. However, I disagree: children SHOULD play with dead things."
--William Thorn (of Nevermore Radio)

Hi guys, It's my birthday..... AGAIN!!! .... and I'm STILL not rich and famous!! I know you've probably been wracking your brains out for weeks, trying to figure out what to get me for my birthday. :>) Well here's what I'd really like: Please forward the King Gully video (below) to five (5) friends who you think might enjoy it, and ask them to do the same. Kind of like a chain letter, except the recipient actually gets something cool. All modesty set aside, (moi? :>), it's a freaking great song, and a nice video too. Happy New Year to all, and Happy Birthday to ME! ("It's my birthday, and I'll spam if I want to.... :>) Thanks everyone! Rick Novak. My old friend King Gully was the first Rasta surfer on the wild North Shore of Barbados. This song is based on his true story. It's been described as a cross between "I Shot The Sheriff" and "Puff The Magic Dragon". :>) I think you'll like it, as well as the shots of great surfing and amazing waves, all from Barbados! Enjoy.... For full screen viewing and sharing: http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=jjFRtKuXJ6E

My lovely lady, is being pressed as you read, and should be ready for some good beatnik-fuck-dancing in late June. Her name is "quill of the mad", spawned by my tongue on a day at which i was obviously a bit chemically imbalanced. no matter...
