I guess my biggest problem is I've been cursed with the ability to do the math.

    Darkly Dreaming Dustin's Interests
MusicAFI, Tiger Army(Hey, Geoff's back! Jeff Roffredo was good, but he didn't quite have the same showmanship as Geoff), Nekromantix, Horrorpops, Against me!, Bad Religion, Social Distortion, NOFX, The Unseen, Time Again, Left Alone, The Briggs, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Street Dogs...Why is this starting to feel like some exercise in word association?

The Briggs- Charge Into the Sun
Time Again- Broken Bodies
Time again- Outcast
Here's the end credits for "Give 'em the Boot" which shows a lot of my favorite bands.
HorrorPops - Boot 2 Boot
Bad Religion - Dearly Beloved (Live in San Diego. I saw them play this in Hollywood a week before this show.)
Rancid w/ Davey Havok- Knowledge and Radio (at 1:45)
MoviesI don't know why, but lately I've had a craving for bloody horror movies. I guess I'm just looking for something that will actually scare me, but aside from a slight bit of disgust at watching a guys arms and legs get twisted until his bones splinter in Saw 3 (yeah, the bone thing strikes a certain chord with me), nothing's really doing it. Anyways, here's the full version of Midnight Meat Train, which is based off of the story by Clive Barker, from the Books of Blood. It's a bit gory, so don't watch it if you're squeamish...

Here's a movie I'm looking forward to...

TelevisionHere's a clip from Dexter, where he kills a lying, used-car salesman who happens to remind me of an asshole I used to know. I'm seriously kicking myself in the ass for the fact that I was busy when a friend called and asked if I could help him with a bunch of chopped-up women, which ended up being for the first season of this show.

Here's another clip from Dexter, where he kills Miguel, a man who, at one point, he'd thought of as a brother.

Here's the opening credits for True Blood, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows this season. Yet another example of a show that it looks like I might have worked on if I hadn't been on another project.

   Darkly Dreaming Dustin's Blurbs
About me:
Hey, my name's Dustin. I'm a 27 year old special effects make-up artist, sculptor and lab-tech, working freelance here in SoCal. I love my job, as I've gotten to do everything from airbrushing body-paint on beautiful women to puppeteering a giant metal "death arm" while crouching on a platform on the back of a moving train on the Universal back-lot. I also love live music, and go to about 3-4 concerts a month (trust me, I've got a permanent ringing in my right ear 'cause of that shit).

Anyways, here are a few clips of my work that I was able to find on youtube:

Here's the trailer for Tropic Thunder, which we worked on at Anatomorphex. It shows a decapitated panda head that we made, which Ben Stiller is wearing on his head when he's tied to a pole at 1:42.

Here's the trailer for an indie horror film I worked on called "Murder Loves Killers Too." I made a bunch of knives, some intestines and a couple of silicone bodies that were stabbed, slashed and drilled.

Here's an AT&T commercial with the T-rex costume that we made at Anatomorphex for another commercial.

Here's another commercial I worked on at Anatomorphex. That morning, I broke 2 vertebrae in my back while carrying my equipment to the car and was a 1/2 hour late to set, so Robert applied the sideburns and the wig. We had these long, floppy silicone arms that Robert made that I helped the actor with all day. Yeah, I wouldn't recommend spending the day trying to pull silicone arms on and off of sweaty hands when you have a broken back. It's weird, but it actually hurts to watch this now.

Here's a commercial with Cameron Diaz walking through the backlot at paramount. It has two green alien women that Chad and I painted. It also has a purple alien head and a green alien head that we made.

Here's a Harley commercial with a skull mask that I sculpted.

This a PSA for MTV that features a giant condom costume and a giant aids costume that Brenda and I made at Anatomorphex.

Here's a Toyota commercial with a few badgers that I helped with. Those were real badger pelts that were transferred onto foam-latex badgers. Thanks to that job, I now know that badgers are related to, and smell like, skunks.

Here are two Budweiser commercials with a robot that we made at Anatomorphex.

Here's a Washington Mutual commercial with two kangaroo pouches that we made at Anatomorphex. I patterned the pouches off of a miniature pouch that Amepe sculpted. Then I used the enlarged patterns to make the foam pouches that Robert covered in fur. We had a hanging harness on a huge, welded frame that was pretty comfortable for short periods of time.

Here's one of the first jobs that I did for Anatomorphex. It's the music video for "Comin' to Your City" by Big & Rich. I painted a bunch of the back-up dancers from head to toe in green paint and applied bald caps to transform them into aliens. Also, all of the alien heads and hands came from Robert.

This is the last part of Making the Video for Fully Alive by Flyleaf on MTV. There's a segment in the middle where they came to Anatomorphex to show how the statue of Lacey, the singer, was made. They interviewed Robert, and showed Franco taking off pieces of the face, which was sculpted by Mike Hill, and preparing to paint it. There's a shot of me puppeteering the alligator and carrying the statue to the car.

Here's a trash monster that Robert, Brenda and I made for a Spanish Glad bag commercial that's been the clip of the week on The Soup. We made molds of actual trash and cast and painted foam copies. Yeah, opening a silicone mold of broccoli that's been left to cure overnight isn't fun.

Here's a Gushers commercial with a tent and a huge, expanding "fruit punch head" that we made at Anatomorphex. We made a giant latex balloon that Robert hooked up to an air-compressor.

A Japanese Mentos commercial with an ice cream hat that I sculpted, patterned, seamed and painted.

Here's a Cheez-it commercial that I made giant prop cheese wheels for that rolled down the hills of San Francisco. On one take, one of the wheels rolled past the guy who was supposed to catch it and dented a car that belonged to the production staff.

Here's the Carl's Jr commercial where I had to take the life-cast of the underside of a cow and then glue big foam latex udders, that Chad and I sculpted, to it on the day of filming. They put the cow on a moving platform with 2 guys on each side who pushed and pulled to make the cow shake.

My first job as a make-up artist in April of 2005. I did the make-up for half of the back-up dancers. The video is for a reggae singer from Trinidad called Ms. Triniti and the song is "Fa Da Love of Da Dancehall."

Here's a Bud Light commercial with animatronic foam latex alien heads that I molded and seamed. Somehow we made the suits and heads in about 2 weeks.

This is an Orbit gum commercial with a giant man-eating plant puppet that we made at Anatomorphex.

This is a pepto-bismol commercial that Letty, Brenda and I made a godzilla-type monster for.

Here's a Comcast commercial where Chad and I applied and removed beards and mustaches all day.

This is the ranch tooth for Wendy's that I did finishing work on and made interchangable facial expressions for.

A floppy silicone body that I worked on for an anti-drug PSA. Yeah...

I finally found a clip of the Family Guy spoof of the anti-weed PSA I worked on.

Here's a commercial for the Oregon Lottery with a giant burger that we made at Anatomorphex.

Here's a video of Bean and Justin that I filmed.
