Darkness Blinding was formed in January 2005 by three friends who were all inspired by their love of heavy music. To start out with the three members rehearsed a couple of originals minus a vocalist until bass player Jared decided to grow some balls and have a go. Their early material was a strange mix of industrial, metal core and punk.
A demo was recorded midyear followed by some local shows with some well known local bands. In mid 2006 following mixed feedback and mixed performances from these early shows. The boys decided that a change of direction was required. So most of the set list was scraped with the aim to go all out and write the heaviest hardcore/metal material they possibly could.
In 2007 They played a show a month and recorded another demo CD with this new material until hooking up with Mudhut studios to record their first full length CD. Spending most of early 2008 in the rehearsal studio perfecting their songs, they hit the recording studio for the whole of September ‘08 and with the assistance of Scott and Jimmy from “A Secret Death” producing and engineering, produced the heaviest record they could.
Since then The Gold Coast based band has come a long way. After posting a few of the new album songs on MySpace and generating some interest from the right people. The band went out and performed at venues all over South East Queensland supporting respected local and interstate acts. Combining the pace of punk with metal style riffs and licks, and the massive throwdowns of hardcore with death style vocal delivery, the band have created a sound that is unique to the overcrowded metal/hardcore scene.
With their debut album on ITunes and slated for a summer release (With their recent signing to Cowbell Digital Music!), and with talk of an east coast album tour. 2009 looks like being their biggest year yet!
