THE 'DARK OVERLORD' STORY (1987-2009) Dark
Overlord is a metal~rock band from
Atlanta Georgia USA. First rising out of the darkness in the Summer of 1987. Started by Marco and Rob, they wanted to play the metal that inspired them through their developmental years. Including the ancient influences of Black Sabbath, Kiss, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, etc... they were intent on staying away from 'glam rock' and focusing on a thrashy, syncopated fury of technical style mixed with melody and basic driving rhythms. Marco and Rob played in band together back in their high school daze. They've been fortunate enough to meet and play for many in the industry, including playing some huge shows for national acts, and numerous events around Atlanta and the Southeast.
Collectively, the Dark Overlord band has seen several lineup changes over the years (2 bassists, 3 vocalists, 1 guitarist) but the core of the group (Marco, Rob, Alesha) has remained unchanged. When Alesha came on board (1990 ~ 2nd demo RELOADED) she brought a new energy and recognition that hadn't been seen in a typical metal band. No other woman has stepped up to the plate and brought the heat like Alesha, proving Dark Overlord's worth as a unique metal contender. Seeing much recognition, the band has been aired several dozen times on Atlanta radio, in addition to dozens of underground college stations around the country. Their riotous cover of 'Devil Went Down to Georgia' has seen enormous popularity and proves their ability to switch gears on a drop of a hat. Officially reunited in November 2001, with the current Singer PAUL PRICKETT, they've mastered their blend of music and continue playing shows and working on material.
