DARK PASSAGE - gothic & dark alternative radio's Interests
General
Volunteer at 2SER since September 1999. Presenter for Celluloid Dreams since 1999, panel operator for the show since 2005. Writer/presenter of the I Ching segment (defunct) on Friday breakfast. Occasional Overdrive fill-ins between 2007 and 2008. Board member of Clan Analogue since December 2007. Keyboards and production for The Inflatable Voodoo Dolls, 15-11 Enterprises and possibly others. Occasional appearances since 2005 as DJ Cernunnos and as part of the Inflatable Sound System.
Music
Reasonably broad musical tastes, obviously including the sort of stuff played on the show, but also encompassing 60s psychedelia/freakbeat, a certain amount of 70s progressive, punk, 80s/90s indie, early 20th century "classical", ambient, and more.
Movies
Fond of the various works of Kenneth Anger, Werner Herzog, Buster Keaton, Stanley Kubrick, Akira Kurosawa, Fritz Lang, Georges Melies, Yasujiro Ozu, Powell & Pressburger, George Romero, John Woo, amongst others. Interested in silent cinema, vintage experimental film, Hong Kong actioners, classic horror (plus the good new stuff, although I'm not a huge gore/slasher freak), and a good music documentary never goes wrong either.
Television
Doctor Who (1963-89 version; for some reason I have trouble getting enthused by the new model), The Goodies, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Police Squad, Red Dwarf, South Park... not an awful lot more. I don't like being tied down to watch serial TV at the same time every week any more, so I watch relatively little TV
Books
Assorted works of Raymond Chandler, H.P. Lovecraft, Friedrich Nietzsche, Terry Pratchett, Clark Ashton Smith, William Shakespeare.

DARK PASSAGE - gothic & dark alternative radio's Blurbs
About me:
2SER presents DARK PASSAGE, a program of dark alternative music, every Wednesday night.
Dark Passage presents new, recent and classic gothic, industrial, EBM, postpunk, shoegaze, and similar styles of music from Australia and from abroad.
Dark Passage is hosted by James Russell, enigmatic genius (?) behind 15-11 Enterprises, keyboardist for The Inflatable Voodoo Dolls, and long-time 2SER presenter.
Dark Passage runs every Wednesday night from midnight to approximately 1am AEST. Tune into 107.3 FM if you’re in Sydney, or else stream us online at http://www.2ser.com/stream . If you're not operating on Sydney time, use http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ to calculate time zone differences.
Dark Passage is also probably the only show of its kind in the world named after a Humphrey Bogart film. Unless there’s a show somewhere in South America called “Treasure of the Sierra Madre” or something.
Dark Passage is happy to take requests or suggestions. Email me at darkpassage@2ser.com.
MUSIC SUBMISSIONS
Are you making music that fits within the parameters of this show? (See above description and also consider our published playlists to see what's actually been played on the show at various points.) Are you interested in radio airplay for your music? Email me at darkpassage@2ser.com and we’ll talk business. All submissions will be considered. If I like it—which is my primary criterion—I will endeavour to play it.
I prefer music submissions to be sent on CD if possible. Mp3s will be accepted, but MUST be encoded at 192kbps MINIMUM. Anything lower than this will NOT be considered.
Tune in to 2SER every Wednesday night from midnight (Australian Eastern Standard Time).

Just wanted to thank you for the connection, glad to have you amongst friends. It is great to hear of radio stations dedicated to Gothic music, we nee need a place for children of the night to gather. I make what I call Symphonic Gothic music, swing by and have a listen, I hope you like what you hear.
Hello!!! It's been awhile - sorry there hasn't been in any Australian shows for many months but we've been busy in Europe with a bunch of touring and we're now recording our new album in Berlin (scheduled for release in March). But to make up for it, here's a big (and silly) Merry Christmas from us (and from some hippos too) :
Some bold new artistic direction? Nah, Just us being silly!!! We did this track for our label's "Black Snow - the completely different Xmas compilation". (and of course, visit our youtube channel for a high quality version)
Wishing you a very silly Silly Season and we'll see you back in Australia sometime in 2010!
