KLARTRAUM

Silicone Soul's ever popular Darkroom Dubs imprint returns with an exciting label debut for Germany's Klartraum.
Best known for their releases on their very own Lucidflow imprint, Klartraum is duo Nadja Lind and Helmut Ebritsch (also of Hatikvah fame). Having teamed up back in 2006, the pair have been creating music together, mutually influenced but their personalities and personal growth. As a live act they have played many of Germany's finest club nights and festivals.
Constantly developing their sound, the pair effortlessly 'flow' between dark, dubby techno and melodic deepness. Always in an elegant and moving fashion.
Today's EP showcases their full array of sounds and styles. Title track 'Phantomkatzen', with its powerful brand of funk opens the show, backed superbly by the spooky sounds of 'Egoismeadeux', a track that recently featured on DRD's 2010 Label Sampler. 'Ignorance' has a special, warm, almost spacious feel, and final track 'Dance Alone' continues the warmth, with a fluid, deep and calming edge.
Overall another brilliant EP from Klartraum, and an equally as special selection by Darkroom Dubs.
Enjoy!

FILIPPO MANCINELLI & ALLEN MAY

The next installment from Silicone Soul's wonderful Darkroom Dubs label see's another debut. This time from Filippo Mancinelli & Allen May.
The pair first teamed up back in 2005 when a chance meeting at the Pescara nightclub 'Long Island' lead to a residency for both, that they still do today. Individually, Filippo is also resident for the Mariopsx.com parties and Allen's DJ sets have seen him share the box with some of the biggest names in the world of house and techno.
Their musical similarities lead them to collaborate behind the production desk, and today we bring you their latest composition 'The Hills'. Deep, moody and with a dubby touch, the original is a pure scene setter. Easily at home in a big arena as it is a darkened basement, its Detroit flavour will win many fans.
On the remix is Haruki Matsuo. Renowned for his releases on the Dutch, 'Rush Hour' imprint. His 'Geisha Dance' and 'Dankan' singles have been highlights, and have found support from the likes of Laurent Garnier and Loco Dice.
Matsuo's mix takes the original even deeper. Like a storm cloud brewing, it builds intensity, gradually. Yet passes overhead, never peaking, but demonstrating its power... Enjoy!

JAIRO CATELO

Jairo Catelo is one of the Spanish new faces growing in popularity. Influenced by soul and black sounds, he gives them a new character for the dancefloor but always keeping this elegant organic touch. Developing his career since 1997. He has played regularly at clubs and events such as La Real, Tik, Rocamar, El Jardín, Loop and Phonotica and he has been resident of emblematic clubs like Berlín, Metro or Baby's.
His recent productions have found fantastic support. His 'Dragged Souls EP' on My Cup Of Tea has found great support in the dance press and from the likes of Danny Tenaglia, 2000 and One, Loco Dice and Manuel Tur.
2009 is set to be Catelo's finest year to date. With an upcoming EP for Plastic City, and collaborations and releases for Novotek Records, Kiara Records, Miga and Clonk Records. Today we bring you his debut release for Silicone Soul's awesome Darkroom Dubs, 'Tales of Smoke and Trumpets E.P.' 3 cuts of modern, percussive, ethnic, jazzy house.

MARC POPPCKE & VIRGINIA

Friedrichshain boy Marc Poppcke has shown himself, over the last year, to be one of the brightest young producer talents to emerge out of Germany. His blend of soulful, groove-laden deepness has won him an army of admirers, and his releases and remixes (as a solo artist and alongside production partner Daniel Solar) for labels including Meerestief, MoonPool, Kina, Ostwind and Diynamic Music have found support from the scene's biggest names.
DJ, Singer and Producer Virginia is in a hot vein of form right now. Having just released the wonderful 'From Above' with Butch on Area Remote, and with releases lined up on Plastic City, ADR, and Pokerflat, alongside label boss Steve Bug, 2009 is set to be a big year for the multi-talented artist.. Her delicate and warm tones add a unique and dynamic element to her productions. Today's release is another wonderful example...
Lead track 'See My Eyes' is a beautiful piece of music. Crisp Toms open the show, classic deep synth stabs, and as the sweet vocal opens, a deep rumbling, rolling bassline.
Track two see's the original reworked by regular Darkroom Dubs artist Andy Graham aka Sei-A. Renowned for his deep and lush productions, here again he takes the same route. Staying true to the original and respectful to the vocal, he creates an epic soundtrack, and one that will again please his fans and many others...
Rounding out the package Marc & Virginia bring us the sound track to all of our Saturday nights with 'Freaks'. Wicked handclaps, brilliant vocal and rolling drums make this a dead cert for everyone's sets....
Darkroom Dubs deliver yet another choice house release for your record boxes, bags and wallets... remember to keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming remix packages of the Silicone Soul singles... closer than you might think!

JET PROJECT

The Jet Project are Belfast duo Timmy Stewart & John McIver. They are the resident Dj’s at the legendary and infamous Stiff Kitten and Shine parties in Belfast, so these boys know a thing or two about a firing house groove.
This project was formed after a few back2back Dj sessions that led the guys to realise they both shared the same love of solid dance floor electronics.
It made sense then that they should take all their influences and experience as Dj’s and bring them to the studio. Their mission statement - to generate rocking club music that can be dropped in peak time sets by Dj’s the world over.
Their debut single, 'Time Flies' wrecked dancefloors everywhere and gained major support and airplay from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo and Silicone Soul.
Subsequent tracks on the label - 'Shudder', 'Lion's Roar', 'Do It Like This' & 'Barrio' found huge support from the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Adam Beyer, John Digweed & Francois K and has shot them to the fore of the techno world.
With their current remix of Matt Playford's 'Analogue Tear' on Paul Woolford's Intimacy label, and a great EP for Steve Lawler's Viva Music on the horizon, the guys trademark ass-kicking brand of techno is set to heard throughout 2009.
They deliver a collection of their finest work to date on the 'Monkey Skulls E.P.' A melting pot of styles and influences, this four track selection takes a major influence from the african continent, with traditional drums, vocals and percussion prominent in all. Yes there has been a host of releases with an ethnic flavour this season, but when they are as HEAVY as these, there is always room for more, in our record bags!
A mighty EP, so handle with care! Watch out for the Monkeys!!

LIAPIN

Richard Liapin, together with Eduard Hartter and Markus Liefke aka Liefko, are German trio Afrilounge. 2002 saw them begin their journey together, but it was 2004 and their Get Physical release 'The Dude' that they really announced their arrival and the success of the release saw them rewarded with the task of remixing M.A.N.D.Y.'s seminal classic 'Body Language'.
Together the trio have released and remixed for a number of labels, including the likes of Connaisseur, 8Bit, Playmate, Systematic and Poker Flat. 2008 has seen Liapin delivering killer cuts himself. Solo projects have come on Genowefa and Connect Four, and soon we bring you his first EP for Darkroom Dubs... Mandan.

SEI A

The latest release from Silicone Soul’s Darkroom Dubs label comes from an artist who has been setting the scene alight with his unique take on house and techno. That artist is... Sei A.
Sei A aka Andy Graham had his first release back in 2003 alongside Gordon Logan under the pseudonym Seinan. Many releases followed, alongside more recent solo productions under his 'Droido' moniker. Throughout this time Andy has built a great fanbase of some of the worlds leading DJ talent including Miss Kittin, Laurent Garnier and Ben Watt.
Now we bring you his stunning debut on Darkroom Dubs. All Sei A productions are impossible to categorize and that’s what makes his music so unique. The early support from digital promo has been phenomenal.
'Blind Envelope', the superb 'Dub For', and 'Twinkle' are made up of all flavours, deep, techy, dubby & driving but most of all each is powerful!
Sei A's recent releases have put the young Glaswegian firmly on the map, with iDJ Magazine already labelling him, as one of 2008's house heroes. With this new release ready to drop, he's about to reaffirm that tag.

FRESKA

Straight outta Murmansk, in the Russian Federation, Darkroom Dubs are delighted to unleash the talents of Freska.
From an early age, Evgeny aka Freska has had a diverse taste in music, from Black Sabbath to Kraftwerk. He took his first guitar lessons in 1998, then later developing a love for vintage synths and drum machines. This musical symbiosis was all too evident in his stunning UK debut, ‘North From South.’ Which gained big support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Danny Howells, Darren Emerson, Hernan Cattaneo and Tania Vulcano (DC10).
You can hear the unique Nordic character in this production and through every note he tries to express a love of his beautiful and snowy homeland. Using electro as a foundation and adding techno elements he creates a deep, poetic and eerie musical portrait of his northern landscape.

THE SPIRALS

Fernando Pulichino and Julian Sanza require no introduction to any discerning lover of house music, with their productions as Silver City (2020 Vision) and Ciudad Felix a constant feature in the sets of the worlds’ top spinners.
In 2005, when the lads handed label bosses Silicone Soul a demo at Basics, a new project was decided upon and they have now had three releases as The Spirals for Darkroom Dubs. Also recently, as part of the 2020 Soundsystem with Ralph Lawson and Dubble D, they have rocked major festivals worldwide with a fantastic live show.
Fernando and Julian began their production partnership in 2000, when they first arrived in London from Argentina, with Fernando playing the bass guitar and Julian ..s. Fernando’s route to the UK took him via Ibiza where he spent three summer seasons playing bass over Balearic legend Alfredo’s sets at Space and jamming at some of the island’s best underground parties.
Their debut album, Without Control was the perfect summer accompaniment and a triumph for the Argentinean duo. They crafted a unique record of sublime deep electronic funk. All the tracks are effortlessly joyous and a thrilling excursion of sizzling synths, swinging live drums, Detroit- tinged pads, deep atmospherics, with funky ass b-lines that even Bootsy Collins would be proud of!
Simply music to make you smile and make you wanna dance, surely the true essence of house music?

MIRROR MUSIC

We are delighted to introduce Mirror Music. A project comprising our good friend Dave Donaldson and Silicone Soul's Graeme Reedie.
We first met Dave when he tracked the vocal session for "The Answer" and he has since mastered our last 3 albums and the majority of our singles.
For the past 7 years Dave has been co-producer and programmer for Glasgow composer Craig Armstrong working on many varied projects, scoring over 10 major Hollywood movies including the forthcoming "The Incredible Hulk”, Oliver Stone's "W.T.C." and "Ray" for which he received a Grammy Award.
The guys decided to spend a bit of time in the studio and have been steadily working away to bring us their debut album, "The Strange Things I'll Remember."

Back in late 2008 I brought you a winter sampler from Silicone Soul's Darkroom Dubs label that featured a number of tracks from upcoming releases. One of them, 'Mandan' and without doubt the most popular of the package came from Richard Rotfuß... aka Liapin.
Liapin, together with Eduard Hartter and Markus Liefke aka Liefko, are German trio Afrilounge. 2002 saw them begin their journey together, but it was with their 2004 Get Physical release 'The Dude' that they really announced their arrival. The success of the release saw them rewarded with the task of remixing M.A.N.D.Y.'s seminal classic 'Body Language'. Together the trio have released and remixed for a number of labels, including the likes of Connaisseur, 8Bit, Playmate, Systematic and Poker Flat.
2008 has seen Liapin branching out and delivering killer cuts himself. Solo projects have come on Connaisseur, Genowefa and Connect Four and now, after bringing you the lead track on the winter sampler, I am happy to be able to bring you the full... Mandan E.P.
Title track 'Mandan' is a huge groove-fest. Dubby bassline, cheeky vocal sample and delicate tom-toms make for a wicked number that has already picked up a host of big name support from guys including, Laurent Garnier, Dennis Ferrer, Steve Bug, DJ Hell, Agnes, Charles Webster and many more...
So time for the new additions, and they really do not come much better. Teaming back up with his boys, Afrilounge take 'Mandan' even deeper with their 'Afrilounge In Your Soul Dub'. Dubbing things out further, with hints of Djembe drums and bubbling effects, this really is a smokers delight. Soulful to the end.
Rounding out the package is a real gem from Liapin. 'Call It Deep', as the title explains, does delve in that direction, yet has a demon kick, that takes hold. Infectiously locking on, this track will have you grinding your way across the floor with a gangsta'S swagger. Stunning!
Overall, I think you will be hard pushed to find a finer promo release in your inbox this weekend. Liapin and the Afrilounge boys are true masters of their craft.... Get down, and get funky!

Silicone Soul's fantastic Darkroom Dubs label returns in swift fashion, fresh from the success of their current Sound Of Glasgow release that featured tracks from a couple of Scotland's most exciting new talents, Sei-A and Gary Beck.
For this new release we hop across the water to the shores of Northern Ireland to catch up with DRD regulars the Jet Project. The Shine and Stiff Kitten residents, Timmy Stewart and John McIver are in the form of their lives right now. Previous releases on this label have shot them to the fore of the techno world, and with their current remix of Matt Playford's 'Analogue Tear' on Paul Woolford's Intimacy label doing well, and a stunning EP for Steve Lawler's Viva Music on the horizon, the guys trademark ass-kicking brand of techno is set to heard throughout 2009.
Here they deliver a collection of their finest work to date on the 'Monkey Skulls E.P.' A melting pot of styles and influences, this four-track selection takes a major influence from the African continent, with traditional drums, vocals and percussion prominent in all. Yes there has been a host of releases with an ethnic flavour this season, but when they are as HEAVY as these, there is always room for more, in our record bags!
This is a mighty EP, so handle with care! Watch out for the Monkeys!!

To kick off the year in style, Silicone Soul’s Darkroom Dubs present a new series of vinyl releases. Inspired by early 80's Glaswiegen indie label, Postcard and their 'Sound Of Young Glasgow' ethos, they aim to showcase the hottest talent from their home city.
Both these artists need no introduction. Andy Graham aka Sei A productions are impossible to categorize and that's what makes his music so unique. His recent debut album, 'Editing Shadows' has gained universal critical acclaim and the 'album of the month' accolade in Dj Magazine.
2009 is set to be his year. On the flipside is Gary Beck, who is a man on a mission - forging his own definition of techno. With releases on Minus, Edit Select and Somabeta (Soma's new digital offshoot), he is an artist with a bright future.
