Mirage is a beautifully crafted deep, melodic progressive house record. Hypnotic and enchanting, it has a deceptive quality, appearing on first listen to be a mood setting track. The combination of lush, blissed-out chords and gently uplifting melodies would however stand up as a euphoric pause towards the end of a set.
Without a doubt, one of THE acts to emerge in 2008, Style Of Eye are set for glory in 2009. Here S.O.E add their minimized tech house touch to the hypnotic vibe of the original; reinforcing the groove with a healthy amount of wiggle then chopping and looping up the melody from the original to give a very current feel.
In its original form Get It is a moody tech-prog track with plenty of gritty drive and tension inducing atmospherics. Built for the building peak-time moments Get It throbs away purposefully without ever going to far and blowing its top.
Solaris Heights (Renaissance, Audio Therapy) provide the remix taking the track in a more wigged out, minimized tech-house direction. Retaining the abrasive feel of the original they add more swing in the beats and layers of bubbling sythns.
Also included is the acapella from the original vocal mix (not used on 12”)
Raver is an epically proportioned electro-edged progressive house track that is full of heads-down drive and bags of excited tension. A massive buzzing bassline shifts through euphoric chord changes to create a memorable hook that is sure to make it a choice peak-time cut for many. The Dub treads a more linear route, preferring a slower burn to to the more full on vibes of the original version.
Pig & Dan have been drafted in to provide the remix and have delivered a storming tech-house banger. Stripping back the groove to create a real industrial feel the mix jacks along at a fair old lick before imploding into a warped-out breakdown of undulating keys that twists into a jaw-dropping distorted crescendo.
Wth Pig & Dan’s ace remix of Denis A’s excellent “Raver” (DAR003) currently doing the rounds, here’s a sneak preview of the fourth release on DAR - “Tsunami” complete with a top notch techno remix by Wally Lopez. Denis A’s Original Mix takes a progressive-tech direction, and he also skilfully gets deeper and more minimal with his Dub. Meanwhile, Wally builds a devastating techno remix that is simply stunning. We recommend you check all the mixes now!
Cuba is a cool melodic tech groover, that demonstrates Denis A’s ever evolving production skills perfectly. He’s definitely a talent to watch in 2009. On remix duty is Germany’s Robert Babicz, who has created an amazing deep melodic tech anthem that is set be a very big tune throughout the summer months for DJs across the board.
Glenn Morrison - “The perfect summer bomb”
Cosmic Voyage, the monster 303 dominator of a lead cut on this 3-track release from Moscow’s Denis A looks like being the biggest release so far from this new label. For the spotters out there, it draws some melodius influences from a 1986 song (Voyage Voyage) written by Jean-Michel Rivat and recorded by the French singer Desireless, which became a smash hit in many countries in Europe. But really this is all about the monstrous groove that Denis A creates with some superb 303 tweaking and peaking that makes this track an instant dancefloor smash.
Over on the b-side Sadalmelik and Orbis Novus are both excellent explorations into tech territory, with catchy melodies, and more minimal styling. Perfect for creating a mood, and no less captivating.
Chemical Test signals the return of Denis A’s label after a summer spent spinning in Ibiza. The slow-burning analogue-driven progressive tech outing is sure to induce dancefloor delirium. This is all about a monstrous building groove that shows Denis A to be a master of atmospherics.
Over on the b-side Physical Test is an excellent exploration into tech territory, with catchy melodies, and a more minimal styling. A 14 minute journey that is perfect for creating a hypnotic mood.
It’s been a very positive year so far for the new DAR label, with DAR006 “Cosmic Voyage” becoming a big summer tune with its heavy 303 action. DAR005 “Cuba” and it’s Robert Babicz remix proved itself to be a big tune for many top DJs, and was tagged “the perfect summer bomb” by Glenn Morrison. Pig & Dan’s ace remix of Denis A’s excellent “Raver” (DAR003) is still causing a big commotion everywhere, and the mighty “Tsunami” complete with a top notch techno remix by Wally Lopez has been doing good business in the stores (with Denis A’s minimal styled Dub Mix of this getting a big thumbs up all over).
Are you ready to take the Test?
Opening with some slow-burning deepness and fabulous sultry female vocals on the appropriately titled progressive Heaven, which is followed by some serious squelching building euphoric tech action on Religion, making this is a perfect recipe for dance floor delirium from Moscow’s Denis A. Don’t miss out on the fabulous haunting keys on the Re-Zone Remix of Heaven either.
Having spent the summer months spinning in Ibiza, Denis A once again shows himself to be to be a master of atmospherics.
Heaven/Religion continues the creative path forward from Chemical Test / Physical Test (DAR007) with two more epic 10 minute journeys into progressive tech territory, complete with a bonus spicy tech rework of Heaven to complete the package.
The Original Mix of Heaven glides effortlessly into your consciousness with it’s mysterious female vocals and lush drawn out arrangement, whilst the bonus Re-Zone Remix spices things up with plenty of tech stutter and swing and some spine tingling haunting keys. Meanwhile, Religion, with it’s squelching intro and euphoric attitude, is sure to fire up any crowd with it’s uplifting progressive tech vibe.
