Darowyn is the performing alias that I use. It is a name generated by a computer programmme I wrote to generate exotic names. By pure coincidence, if it was a Welsh name, it would mean "white oak".
I am not Welsh, I was born in Lincolnshire, in a town whose name is often censored by profanity check software. While I was there, I was highly commended in the local Communist Party Second Annual Baby Show. I grew up and went to school in Leeds, Where my Mother warned me that I should study my school subjects more thoroughly, because I would never make any money from Music or Motorbikes.
I went to University in Liverpool, and became a teacher, which has alloowed me to make living out of something to do with Music or Motorbikes.
I do not spend much time worrying about the things I have not done, and I feel sorry for those people who say "I've always wanted to ....(whatever), but I never got the chance."
There are lot's of things I always wanted to do , and I've done them all! I intend to carry on doing the things I like, especially now that I don't need to spend so much time doing the things I don't like.
I like to make things, and I like to make things work so have a look at my website, and you will see something of the range of things I have made.

How that takes me back. I remember Fylingdales well. As a Yorkshireman born and bred, I saw it annually en route from Sheffield to summer hols in Filey. Your words chime chords profoundly. Agreed When the Wind Blows remains an outstanding piece of cinematography. I remain hopeful that all the anti-nuclear awareness in the socialist republic of Yorkshire(!) will disseminate for the enlightenment of all (remember Operation Squareleg?). Kind regards through the ether from NZ, Faber.
Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
