Just about everything. I like rock, metal, classical, new age, big band, 80's new wave, etc. Anything that inspires me, or that has a great hook or melody to it.
Hey everybody, this is actually a second MySpace page for me. In order for you to be able to upload songs, you have to have a music page, so this is it. I haven't really done much with this site other than upload some songs I worked on over hiatus with my band Whiskey Tango. You can check out my regular MySpace page at:
I began the journey in music when I was in the fifth grade. I started like most musicians, playing saxophone in elementary school band. I continued on saxophone through high school. It wasn't until I started college that I began playing guitar. I've been playing guitar now for almost 20 years. While I can read music, I have to admit that I play a lot by ear. I can pick up songs pretty quickly just by listening to them. Solos are a little more difficult, but with the technological advances today, you can almost always find tablature or computer programs to map out songs. When I started playing with Whiskey Tango in 1999 I had to learn most of the leads so instead of spending countless hours listening to them, I often went to tabs, etc.
I play as much as I can and try to learn songs that I'm interested in even when not learning songs for the band. I am currently cutting my teeth on piano/keyboards. It's a very different world from the guitar, but it's also very challenging.
I've become a pretty decent player over the last 8 years, but I attribute my growth as a player to my bandmates, and being in a band. Playing in a band systematically makes you a better player, especially if you're gigging constantly and continually learning new songs as we are. One day you learn an old classic tune like Led Zeppelin's "The Ocean" and the next day you're learning "Remedy" by Seether. It keeps me on my toes and keeps things interesting.
Lately, I've been writing and composing a lot of stuff on Garageband. Talk about some great software. I don't usually use a Mac, so just getting used to it was a challenge. I've gotten pretty comfortable with Garageband and have managed to keep busy during downtime creating songs that interest me. The 3 songs listed on this site are some of the things I accomplished over the last couple of months.
Sadly "Holly" (see below) passed away over Thanksgiving weekend. She had been the love of my life for 15 years.
I had a complete empty nest syndrome going on at home since Holly passed away and felt that I needed another special little girl in my life, so I rescued Chloe (below) from a puppy mill in St. Louis, MO. She's a miniature dachshund/miniature beagle mix. She's extremely cute, smart, and obstinate all in one.
I'm the lead/rhythm guitar player for a band in Mid-Missouri called Whiskey Tango. We cover classic to modern rock, and also have 1 CD out of original material. We're currently working on a second disc.
