Darren Ashford
Musicain, producer, educator and published author Darren Ashford has been playing drums professionally since 1991 and has since performed with The National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO), The Drifters, various west-end musicals and with pop artists such as The Backstreet Boys, Westlife, Will Young, Phats and Small, Sean Paul, Will Smith, Joss Stone, Lucie Silvas, D:REAM, The Dub Pistols, Lionel Richie, Chaka Khan, Shola Ama, Black Eyed Peas, Gwen Guthrie, Romina Johnson, Beverley Knight, Angie Stone, Roachford, Kelly LeRoc, Omar, Roy Ayers and Larry Carlton.
Darren has more recently been working with D:REAM, Laura & the Tears and the Dub Pistols.
Darren's previous teachers were some of the UKs best, Bob Armstrong, Dave Hassel, & Neil Wilkinson.
Darren teaches students of all levels, beginner to advanced in a soundproof studio on real drums! Covering topics such as Hand /Foot Technique, Double Pedal Playing, Independence, Moeller, Chart & Sight Reading, Time playing, Linear phrasing, Listening skills, Styles & Grooves such as Cuban, Brazilian, Jazz, Funk & Rock.
Since 2005 Darren has been an active member of the Drum Institute Faculty based at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in Kilburn, London.
Darren also writes articles for Rhythm, Britains most popular drum magazine.
