With his many influences ranging from the folk and bluegrass pickers of the past he uses his unique and powerful voice to captivate anyone within earshot. With an unmatched live energy he shares his views on life and more often death, shedding a beautiful light on the tragic. While standing on tables belting out words beyond his years, audiences go silent, only making a point of adding the necessary stomp clamps to many of the entirely acoustic piece. You can catch darren eedens playing hard, and fast, using his banjo, guitar and mandolin as his weapons of choice, or sometimes using his voice as his only instrument. He brings his music everywhere he can, and has every intention of bringing to a venue near you. Touring many parts of Canada, New York, UK and Europe, he travels with nothing but his instruments and the clothes on his back. Putting every penny earned into travel, food, and making more music. darren has toured with acts such as Juno nominated Emm Gryner, and has shared the stage with the likes of Royal Wood, Melissa McClelland, and Luke Doucet. In Sept 2009, darren was offered the chance to go on the first tour of his career, and with that he released his debut album titled, Owls; and Other Birds of Prey. With this release not only did he put out nine of his first songs, he released a brand, and an image. With porcelain owls placed around the venues people started to recognize this was more than a song, and more than an album, this was in fact just darren eedens. His songs became recognized, and darren worked on his songwriting to better portray the stories in his mind. This brings us to present day, a new view on life, and the floodgate opened for songs to pour out. darren will be releasing a triple album set to come out in May 2011, titled, Carboard Caribous; and Artificial Trees. This triple uses each cd to represent a different side of his songwriting, still using his upbeat energy but also proving he can get in touch with his gospel routes, doing acapella tracks, as well as slow ballads. This album is sure to leave a mark, and with it a new memorable image. darrens career is on the upward slope and his music is sure to reach you, whether it be to tap your toes, or reflect on the lesser evils of the world, you will not forget him.
