Darren has been on the dance scene for over 13 years despite, having started DJ-ing in the world of underground Hardcore at just 16. He started producing and writing tracks with Paul Force in 1993…rapidly becoming two of the biggest names on a new scene which was just beginning. Over the next few years they continued writing and producing together and were responsible for a host of Hardcore classics – they were the first hardcore DJ’s to produce a Mix for Pete Tong’s Essential Mix on Radio One. They gained awards as best producers, best DJ’s and best tracks in numerous Hardcore Awards.
In 1999 Darren teamed up with another up and coming hardcore DJ, Mark Breeze and together they formed Styles & Breeze...again receiving many plaudits in the hardcore world.
Darren has been the writer behind the following hit singles:
Pretty Green Eyes – Ultrabeat – no.2 in 2003 Feeling Fine – Ultrabeat – no. 12 in 2003 Heart of Gold – Kelly Llorenna – no.19 in 2002 Field of Dreams – Flip & Fill – no. 28 in 2003
With Styles and Breeze he has also had the following hits as artist, producer and writer:
You’re Shining – no.19 in 2004 Heartbeatz – no.16 in 2005
Late 2006 saw Darren make a clean sweep at the Hardcore Awards, winning Best DJ, Best Producer and Save Me won single of the year.
This was followed up by retaining his title of Best DJ at the 2007 Awards.
Darren is also responsible along with Breeze and Hixxy, for the biggest selling UK hardcore compilation series – Clubland X-Treme Hardcore which has now racked up sales of over 500,000 across it’s 3 volumes, with X-Treme 4 just added, which hit the shops in December!
Next up for Darren will be his solo album – SKYDIVIN’…. Which as you would expect is jam packed with anthems past, present and future. The album will feature 2 CD’s. The 1st being Hardcore and the 2nd experimenting with different genre’s from the club scene. It is now in the final stages of being complied and due for release early 2008.
