Born in Tyler Tx. ..raised and schooled in Abilene TX. (West Texas) as well as Weatherford, TX (West Tx.).....his Dad and family now reside there). ..also stayed in Fairfax County, VA on and off for 8 years in his late teens and early 20's....moved out to Ca. after that and now resides in SoCal.
Darrin has spent his life accumulating these musical influences that make up his Roots Americana style.
Darrin fuses traditional roots music with a current sound, and maintains a deep appreciation for the authentic styles of Country & Western, Rockabilly, and Rhythm & Blues. Based in L.A. his rockin' trio is backed by veteran roots musicians Thomas Yearsley (from The Paladins) on bass, D.J Bonebrake (from "X" and The Knitters) on drums or Jeff Donovan (from Dwight Yoakam, The Paladins) on drums.... When Darrin's main backup players aren't available you can see him also playing with Kevin Stewart on stand-up bass, Philippe Aubuchon, from "Russell Scott & his Red Hots" (Drums), and Wally Hersom, formerly of "Big Sandy & the Flyrite Boys" (Upright Bass) as well as Tony "Slash" Redhorse, Tony Hererra, Aaron Martinez, Jack Fire, Dan Enriquez, and Joe Perez of "Big Sandy and the Flyrite Boys".. Darrin's blazing vintage blonde 1953 Gibson ES-5 electric hollowbody guitar helps keep the pulse going as he thrills the audiences with Jump Blues, Boogie Woogie, Travis Finger Picking and wild Rockabilly solos.
Darrin has developed a sound of his own and captured it on all of his recordings and original CD's, full of original backbeat rock-n-roll, as well as haunting echo filled ballads and a warm vibrato. Other former bands Darrin has been in spanning the last 20 years are with 1950's Texas Rockabilly Legend Ray Campi, Levi Dexter's band, Rockin' LLoyd Tripp & the Zipguns, and The Kingsize Rockers...and has been a stand in guitar player and singer for some popular SoCal live bands and currently with Thomas Yearsleys new Polynesian band Exotiki . On the road throught the South, Darrin has shared billings with Roots Rockers Dave Alvin, Jim Lauderdale, Dwight Yoakam, Ronnie Dawson, Rosie Flores, The Planet Rockers, the Paladins, and 50's guitar legend Paul Burleson to name a few at popular venues like the Derby, The Blue Cafe, Rhythm Room, Continental Club, Bluebird Theatre, Bimbo's, Doll Hut, Safari Sams / D.J. Hillbilly Jeffs Americana Brunch and Ronnie Mack's Famed Barndance...
Recently the band has played the Greenbay WI, "Rockin 50's Fest" on April 15th - the Worlds Largest 5 Day Rockabilly Festival.... and at the Rock-n-Roll Jamboree in Finland, June 21-23...and at the Grand Ole Opry - Opryland Nashville Tenn. Aug 5th. They also have toured Europe, recorded for a few compilation projects and will be releasing a new CD "Destination..TWANG!!" later in the year...Will be on tour playing Festivals and clubs overseas in Belgium and Netherlands starting with the Atomium Festival May 23rd, 2008.
At home, the band is building a steady following touring in the American Roots club circuit as well as promoting their latest CD release across the U.S. and on radio. Darrin just finished taping a guest host/singing slot in Los Angeles on "Dinner and A Movie" an AMC special featuring the classic movie "Coal Miners Daughter", they also just wrapped up an L.A. T.V. taping of Art Feins Poker Party Americana Music. Darrins original song "Barely Hangin' On has been recently placed in the movie HAUNTED GARAGE and also with ZOOL Film productions..also his catalog of original music is represented by the TV and Film placement/publishing company Suburban Sweetheart Productions partnered with Lakeshore Entertainment.
Darrin is committed to his music and his band. His main goal is to keep American Roots music alive, fresh and strong. Sharp clothes, tube amps and vintage guitars are the line-up at any of his shows, but ultimately, it's his unique music, rhythm and energy that sets him apart.
