Within a month of picking up the guitar at age sixteen, Daryl Shawn was writing songs. His interest in composition, as well as improvisation and advanced harmony, led him to the jazz program at Berklee College of Music. Soon, he branched out into flamenco, African and classical music studies as well, incorporating these various influences into his writing for a wide variety of solo work, from rocking instrumental songs to entire suites of music for weddings.
Shawn spends most of his time on the road, most recently completing a 41-date, 21-state tour of the East and West coasts in the summer of 2009. He will be touring again in October, doing 20-25 dates in the Western half of the country. Watch for three new releases next year, as well as a Southern tour in January followed by another Western trip in March. His most recent release is entitled "Body of a Poet" and is available at darylshawn.bandcamp.com.
Greetings from Hawaii! I'm here soaking up the culture and beauty and wanted to send some Hawaiian sunshine your way! I hope you had a glorious weekend and that you had the opportunity to get out and feel the sun on your face!
Thirty-seven years ago today, on April 20th 1972, the Apollo 16 landed on the moon.
Wherever you are today, and whatever you're doing, I wish you a happy and safe landing!
Glad to see things are still going superbly for you.
I have a new song on my profile, called City Lights On Broken Heights. You may find it slightly familiar to another song of mine, however a lovely friend of mine called Alex Strasman produced this version.
