Lars and Gunnar Hemmerling were born in 1977 and grew up at the east side of Berlin. The twin brothers’ love for electronic music evolved at an early age of their childhood and early teen age listening to artists such like Jean Michael Jarre, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and Electronic Beat Crew.

They experienced the first techno parties in 1993 and started to listen to techno music on DT 64 - a former radio station from the east. At this stage the twins were the stupid techno idiots on the school yard spending weekends in clubs like Praxis, Turbine, Tresor, Vereinsheim, Matrix (the first) and E-Werk. In 1994 they bought their first turntables and started spinning records. The first dj-sets were dominated by R&S, Basic Channel, Stickman, Future 303, Reload and Bush Records.

A half year later Lars bought an old Vermona synthesizer made in the GDR. Since then they were really addicted and influenced by the voltage controlled virus. During the rest of the 90s they counted experiences in home recording electronic stuff and developed their kind of working with all the devices that are necessary for it. At the same time they improved their skills in spinning records.

Lars got a residency by techno event organizer Strom in Hamburg as he lived there for three years. In 2001 Lars moved back to Berlin to spend more time working with Gunnar. The same year they made their first experiences playing live at the legendary Berlin underground club Deli. The philosophy behind their live sets was working whithout a computer to foster the live character of their sets and nothing has changed until today.

In 2002 Lars met Plastique and Telly Quin at the bar Stereo 33 in Berlin who followed the same philosophy and the brothers became a part of the eintakt family.
