God, Id love to be that sanguine about my youth being gone. Probably cos I missed out on half of it. No I love the sofa etc. Most couches are horrible monstrosities but I can tell from that small corner Id love that one.
Yeh the font is Gill Sans or Underground depending on where I use it. It was designed in 1926 but is so typically English that it seemed right. Although it is short of a short hand and easy way to incorporate Englishness into a design. I did use the Ladybrid books font (well an appoximation) for the same effect but I get itchy feet design wise.
