A few years ago, from a little known town south of Brisbane there were 5 guys with nothing better to do than start a band. And one very special evening, Danog was formed (Spell it backwards for shits and giggles kiddies). From that day forth Danog have gigged their way around Brisbane and the Gold Coast, taking with them their unique blend of ska, punk and a beer soaked show that leaves you breathless, or at least wondering what the hell happened to your last 4 drinks, and takes you back to the days of your misspent youth.
Comprising of school friends Mark Carter on vocals and trumpet, Andrew Nolan on lead guitar, carlin banks on rythm guitar/back up vocals, Justin Needham on bass and Daniel Day on drums, Danog have an eclectic sound, with influences coming from all areas. In their own words, they play Anything that's music and not noise. "We play music all the family can enjoy. Excites the soul and nourishes the body. Enjoyed with food or by itself".
2005 saw Danog release their first EP, Claim to Fame to rave reviews. Recorded at Alchemix Studios in Brisbane by Marly Luske, the boys continued to gig relentlessly and perfect their live shows.
2007 was another year and another ep. Returning to the masterful wizard Marly Luske and Alchemix Recording Studios, this EP was to pulsate with meaty riffs and woven with the finest sense of arrogance adding a heavier edge whilst sticking true to the Danog sound. The ladies quivered with excitement over 'Breakdown' then were left a mess with 'My eyes are open', but surely there was something for the lads? And indeed there was, 'Your Eyes' offered something to power saw to whilst 'Dragon!!!' offered something to fight the darkness to.
2008 is sure to be an exciting time for the 5 piece, with their second EP done and eagerly awaiting to be printed and shipped to the masses, Danog will continue to do what they do best, drink til they fall, play hard and take the piss out of anyone who takes themselves too seriously.
