The Daughters of Bluegrass came together after an idea by Lorraine Jordan and Gena Britt as they were traveling together in the Carolina Road Band. They both agreed that there were so many great female musicians and vocalists in bluegrass music, there would certainly be a demand for a musical project showing off these talented women. In 2001 the first album, “Daughters of American Bluegrass” album was released on CMH Records. The CD received a nomination for the 2005 International Bluegrass Music Association's (IBMA) Album of the Year. The second Daughters album, Back to the Well was released on the Blue Circle Records label in February 2006 and later that year honored with the AWARD for the 2006 IBMA Recorded Event of the Year. The Daughters are now celebrating their latest release, “Bluegrass Bouquet” now available on Blue Circle Records. The CD includes 17 songs and over 50 talented women including:
Dale Ann Bradley, Dixie Hall, Frances Mooney, Lorraine Jordan, Jeanette Williams, Janet McGarry, Michelle Nixon, Valerie Smith, Becky Buller, Rhonda Vincent, Sierra Hull, Stacy York, Dara Wray, Alecia Nugent, Jennifer Strickland, Heather Berry, Lisa Martin, Gloria Belle, Lisa Ray, Linda Lay, Sally Jones, Carol Lee Cooper, Jeanie Stanley, Sonya Isaacs, Becky Isaacs Bowman, Sophie Haislip, Louise Tomberlain, Mindy Rakestraw, Lizzy Long, Annette Kelly, Lily Lieux, Donica Christensen, Judi Marshall, Beth Lawrence, Melissa Lawrence, Rebecca Frazier, Jenni Lyn Gardner, Lizzy Long, Lisa Manning, Gena Britt, Vicki Simmons, Megan McCormick, Tina Adair, Kristin Scott Benson, Rebekah Long, Jenee Fleenor, Jeana Martin, Janice Martin, Larita Martin, Martha Adcock, Amber Burks, Beth Stevens, and more.

"Last time out the Daughters garnered an IBMA Award and I do not doubt that they will repeat this at the next IBMA convention. The songs are mainly written by Dixie Hall alone and with her illustrious husband, Tom T. Hall. Musically, it is impossible to find fault with the likes of Becky Buller, Kristin Scott Benson, Sierra Hull and the superb Rebecca Frazier among many others. This is definitely a keeper." Hello Bluegrass Daughters, thanks for adding us! As bluegrass-inspired Dutchmen (and there are only a few like us around here!), we're happy to be in touch with soulmates in the motherland of this wonderful music. I enjoyed your songs, especially Grass Angels. If you have the time, visit our website and listen to a lowlands version of bluegrass.
