Dave Ashe has been in the conceptual stage for the last two years, working on trippy styles of dance music. I don't really care about creating a certain style, as long as it sounds good, its gonna get put out by us.
Influences include doseone, massive attack, boards of canada, the prodigy, biosphere, ok, we'll stop listing artist names now because it gets a bit boring, doesn't it?
I'm a scotsman so it goes without saying we can create some really dreamy nostalgic music right down to the raw edge of urban style glasgow done it with a mate on a 4-track (or would that now be just a computer running ableton live?).
Anyway, the whole point in this 'band', 'artist' - lets call it a project.. Is to do some really cool music and get it out there in any way possible, mainly through the internet.
Life can get a bit boring, can't it? A bit dull? I know i've played all my favourite music to death and still look for more, but it takes forever for anyone to release any new tracks, 3 years is a minimum, look at the stereo mc's, they took 10 years for their bass guitar to rust enough and get their technology in order..
So.. what i've decided to do is to release EARLY VERSIONS, concepts or ideas for tracks, without thinking about it too much.. Life is too short to spend 3 years on a tune but at the end it might just be not what anyone wants so... You're going to help me create my monster albums full of music that YOU like, post ideas for tracks (umm, i want a big electric guitar solo in there, or that keyboard is way over the top man, cool..)
Where to do this is on daveashe.vox.com... go there now and check it out because i need YOU to give me feedback on the tracks i've already posted and the new tracks that i will be writing. You get early cuts for free, if they're good enough i'll put the finished versions on my albums and release them via all good online music retailers like itunes, napster, etc.
so what can i put here?
Ok, what do i do musically? I've got a few guitars, slide bass guitar, electric violin, chinese erhu, some drum machines, a big MF keyboard called an andromeda, loads of flutes, hand percussion, a clarinet! some tibetan singing bowls (not used these in a track yet)
I've got a couple of computers running ableton live, which is possibly the coolest piece of music software created, plus loads of plugins, i even create my own plugins (check out the VS-1000R - a free synth) anyway sidelining.
What happens first when i create? Its down to a decision of where to start, drums or noise? then from that decision, real or virtual? But the starting point for a track is always important for the result that you want.. If you start with the beats, those beats will control the entire track. But if you don't want to be put into a straight jacket with the beats then create the melody first, then add the beats later.. this gives things an interesting twist, check out my track ADA on myspace which uses this technique.
I've been doing this for a while now and i've written over 140 tracks, of loads of different styles. I did a bit of rapping, a bit of singing (which turned out pretty good) but never really pushed the music into the forefront since my initial sucess on the internet.. This is my ultimate goal now to push it mainstream, so if you can help in any way that is appreciated. My budget isn't massive but its not to be coughed at anyways.
What about my beliefs? I dont believe any religion, the true definition of belief is that its a lie, lying to yourself and following some set routine is not a way to live, life is all about trying something new, doing something different every day (where possible) and living your life to the full.. You can do anything you want.. You just have to decide what to do.. How about promoting my music? You could do that. (just an idea!)
Thanks for looking and listening,
Hope you enjoy the sounds.
Cheers,
Dave Ashe

This year will begin with Medium’s full length debut album, titled Electronic Mind Mutation.
1. Need extreme 2. Broken Voices 3. Future will be Dark 4. Dark days 5. Mind Killa (Throttler remix) 6. Through the years and far away 7. MDM 8. Hope & Hopeless
The album aims to bring a new level of understanding and comprehension of music, not as an isolated product but as a philosophical work, containing many scopes of sound. One of the brightest tracks on the album, Mind Killa Remix, is the work of Greek Musician, Steve Foskolos (Throttler). His remix became the real decoration of the album, harmoniously blending in his unique, dark structures. The philosophy of this album is best noted by the elements found in Dark Days - elements of darkness, distortion and ambiance. Medium's main idea behind this work is to delve on the extreme side of dance music, as apprent in Need Extreme. In Future Will Be Dark, a relection of Medium's internal world are aggresively apparent, bringing out a shockingly twisted MDM breakbeat breach. Album receives worldwide support by Omar Santana, Stormtrooperz, DJ Hidden, Kid Kryptic, Slacknote, Newtone, Cativo, EBK, Counterstrike, Divan (ex-Spirals), The Proxy, DJ Fixx, Gein, Neztic, Future Prophecies and more.
