Sounds Like
A mixture of all my influences and the particular mood on the day I record
I first got into electronic inspired music back in the early 1980's when I was 7 or 8 years old, I didn't really know what it was all about back then but loved the rawness of the sound . Early electric music from Kraftwerk and early hip hop from the likes of Grand Master Flash was to shape my future taste. Towards the end of the eighties the acid house era was bourne followed by rave music, I was drawn to this music even more but it wasn't until the early to mid nineties that I truly discovered my passion. Having spent most of my late teens to mid to late twenties partying in many of the uk's top clubs it was to be the famous Orbit in Morley Leeds that would give inspiration to start collecting as much Techno inspired music as I could. I soon discovered it was the sound of detroit, berlin, brooklyn, birmingham and tokyo that I loved. Shortly after I purchased my first set of decks and started to hone my shills as a dj, although I never got to play any where major I did do some underground parties and loved it. In the mid nineties myself and 3 other like minded individuals got our first taste of production, using the legendry roland 303, quasimidi, yamaha samplers, mics. vocoders and different effects hardware. We called ourselves Dark Colony, played some local parties and had several hours worth of material before we eventually disbanded as our lives took on different paths. It wasn't until 2001 that I met Paul Cottam who was to relight my passion for techno, this guy has given me so much inspiration and determination. I have now been producing and recording for the last twelve months or so and feel I'm improving all the time. Early work can be found at (http://www.reverbnation.com/davedarke )
