Howard Thurman once said, "Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive." Well, music makes me come alive. It makes me cry. It makes me connect with people, with my soul. I believe it goes a level deeper than surface consciousness where things either heal or become disease.
Anyway, I've been playing music since high school when I realized it could help me overcome my natural shyness. I slowly grew in my ability to compose original music. By college I was connected more and more to musical people and my abilities flourished. I played wine and cheese places and became more open.
I'm a husband and dad now and run a successful ad agency in Long Island. But in spare quiet moments, I pursue the unrelenting itch to keep music alive in me. This myspace has inspired me to expand once more in my quest for musical expression. I hope what comes of it makes you come alive.
Cause that's what the world needs.
The music sounds GREAT!! Everyone reading this, mark your calendar for RETURN TO THE DREAM, DAVE DIRCKS and and LAURA JEAN BINKLEY Live in The Lobby on November 6. It is going to be a fantastic night!!!
Hey Dave, Hope all's well. I'd love to play acoustic LI sometime soon ... touring in Europe in Oct on the BBC Bob Harris show and the Take Root festival in the netherlands w/Dan Bern, John Hiatt ... should be amazing! Let me know if you'd like to have us back in 2009. Best, --Annie K.
I am in full support of your candidacy :). I hope all is well on the sandbar. I would still love to make a trip back up there sometime to play Acoustic LI.

Hello! This is an invitation for all my current myspace friends (and anyone else who's interested) to check out my band's new myspace page. We renamed the project to CROOKED TOE (formerly known as John Pinder Band), so check out myspace. com/crookedtoeband and feel free to add us. We'd love to have you as a friend!
Great chord structure and lyrics. These are songs that force you to listen. Maybe you have an advantage, soaking up a songwriting masters degree from all the ALI podcast talent, but you've got a great touch with songs.
just wanted to say congrats again for a fantastic night Saturday....Sal and I really enjoyed the music and we very happy to support the cause! Keep us the great work...we'll try and make it back down on another Wednesday. Robin Eve & Sal Lazzarino www.robineve.com www.myspace.com/simplystatedsound
Hi Dave, Great songs. As a fellow songwriter from Long Island I just want to let you know how much I enjoy your tunes. Hope to see you perform on LI sometime. Howard Pavane www.howardpavane.com
I picked up the early edition of the Times today. Pg. 10. Great article. Loved all of it. I'm sure you've seen it already. But what do you think about that picture of that sex symbol next to the one of you and Rob? .. Shocking, eh?
