Yours truly on guitars and vocals........The embarrassingly superb Lesley Yule plays fiddle on James of the Glen. Lesley is a member of that bubbling cauldron of talent of a band - Rudeigin. New CD Avalon is now available at www.davegibb.co.uk

Everyone you can think of from The Monkees to Richard Thompson via Mississippi John Hurt, Black Sabbath, The Who, Tom Paxton, Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Simon, Dylan, The Band, Pentangle, Rolling Stones, Beatles, The Corries, Small Faces, the Sands Family, Taj Mahal, etc...... My stuff is pretty folky though.

Ah...well....that's for you to decide. But here's a wee Burns song to be going on with - Green Grow the Rashes
Left handed, balding, middle-aged, songwriting folky from the highest village in Scotland. Check my wee website for more info. Meanwhile here's a wee video of Jerking Dance recorded at the Common Folk Club in Pelsall.....Jerking Dance Add to My Profile | More Videos
and here's one recorded in the comfort of my own wee abodeReiversBy Name ..and here's another oneThe Night of the Fiery Mitts at the Wanlockhead Inn and here's a bikeride through the Mennock Pass to Wanlockhead accompanied by a wee tune from yours truly
I only wobble because I'm 6' 2" and have only small feet! the base doesn't match the foundations! It was flooded around here but the cave stayed dry. I might bring the guitar to KFFC. Still trying to get me head round "The Leaving". Desi throws in some weird, though effective, beats and my infantile efforts fail to match. And the original is far too complicated for me! See you in the Wilds of North Yorkshire where men are men and the sheep, s..t scared!

Hey Dave, Another great wee sing-song at a very nice wee club, good to see you again, you just need a wee bit of practise at the plectrum juggling. Seeyanextyear.
Oh, Man, that's sad. To think your life has come to this fine pass. That you need to wait for me singing! Your song! Hey, Dave, I'll try to give it the credit it surely deserves.
The musical ineptitude is all mine. I thought it was a key change. It wasn't. Just a different chord sequence! And I took Desi's version as I was just farting about with the guitar and thought "Oh! That sounds familiar". Bm, G, A. The original is far too finger picky for my basement ability. Though I reckon it's in Em? May I do it at the next jam sesh?
Oh! You're in Ireland! Forget what I said before. I reckon I've got it. May I attempt it at the Jam Sesh on Thursday? Me and Gwen will be doing Desi's "Wellspring". A momentous night in prospect as me mate, Neil has got a new band together doing SKA/FOLK. An interesting concept! Take care and love to Isobel and hope this horrendous weather washes more gold into the burn.
Nice vid. of the bike ride. But didn't the BMW get a wee too close to the bridge parapet. Me? I'm a fan of the Ducati; once had a 900 MHR. Talk about pooh off a chrome shovel!
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Spent yesterdy morning listening to your sounds. Once I'd dragged myself from the Pit of Despond (joking, no needs to raid across the Border), turned on the Dubliners and spent the afternoon in front of the fire with a fine single malt. Once saw Julie Felix at Wortley. Take care and love to Isobel
