Hey y'all, I'm Dave. I live in New Orleans. And New York. And Los Angeles. I've been a musician all my life. In the 90's, I was pretty serious about my jazz music. Then I took some time away from performance to study and travel. From 2004-2006 I lived on tour, playing a country-tinged form of folk music. I played as a solo artist and with a group called Mercy Driver. I recorded an album called Wake to These Satellites in New Orleans and one called How To Breathe in Austin.
In 2007, I turned my attention towards production and also played some rock n roll with a group called Dave and the Twisted Roots. That was fun. Then, in 2008, I resumed independent film work, working as a music supervisor and a music editor.
Dare, a film I worked on, premiered at Sundance in 2009 and in theaters later that year. And Night Catches Us, a film I worked on, premiers at Sundance 2010. Keep an eye out for Kara Kulpa's debut record in 2010, as well, produced by DG at Signature Sounds. And who knows, maybe I'll dig up some recordings from those touring years and release them one of these days? Maybe I'll even return to playing some shows. Who knows where it'll take me!
