Dave Hilliard is a distinctive visual artist who creates paintings, drawings and installations with all the exuberance and anarchic energy of eighties comedy heroes 'The Young Ones'.
Born in Northampton in 1978, he graduated with a degree in printmaking from the University of Wolverhampton in 2002. He has since gone on to develop a strong style of drawing with a darkly comic vision of the booze saturated retail park that is modern Britain.
His drawings and politically mischievous installations have been exhibited in shows and events in various venues and gallery spaces including the Whitechapel gallery, 'The Others' project space in Stoke Newington, London, and Birmingham’s Custard factory gallery.
Hi DaveHilliard, thanks for continuing to be a friend of Electroflex.
Some important news!
Electroflex have been back in the studio following a break from gigging and recording with new track ‘Computer Virus’.
This is the first of a series of new releases for 2009, and what better day to start on than Liz’s Birthday!
‘Computer Virus’ is a live favourite. Anyone forced to work with computers will know how evil they are and this track is Electroflex’s response to Kraftwerk’s ‘Its More Fun to Compute’. It is a bouncy number with a serious bassline, sing-along chorus and a selection of curious samples.
The track will only be up on Myspace in full for a short time. Alternatively, visit our Facebook and iLike pages where you can add the song to you playlists
Ha ha! Fuck yeah man. Those sharks thought they were tough. Not as tough as Hilliard... Funny, I'm writing a new song right now and I gotta be honest, I stole a line from you for the lyrics. "The children of the rich play at being poor." Hope you don't mind me using it.
Hi Dave, Life has its cycles of ups and downs, I try to make the most of it by moving toward the center. But I'm not always so good at it. Anyway, all in all it's a fun ride. I think we can all learn a lot from Chuck Berry, alex
Hey Dude!!! I hearted you and I now belong to that site, I'm such a joiner ( not to be confused with follower). Actually one more thing on the internets I have at my disposal to procrastinate my time away with. :)
New Year's Eve is a funny thing... actually December in itself is a funny month. It's like we suddenly have to pretend that we like everyone around us -probably because we feel guilty for hating them the remaining 11 months or so... Then by christmas eve you forget all about other people and stuff yourself with food you wouldn't normally eat and continue this for a week or so, until it's finally time to fill the last remaining spots in your body with lots and lots of booze... Finally you wake up on the first day of the new year and realise you regret most of the stuff you've done in the last 30 days.
Hi Dave Happy Holidays I have a video I was gonna share w/ you but I'm technically inept. It's one of my new years resolutions to be more computer savvy so after that happens, I will share:)
