   About Dave Hughes

I'm Dave Hughes. I'm a punk-rock political songwriter from Scotland. My main influences are The Clash, Bruce Springsteen and Green Day, although I listen to a hell of a lot more than that.

I've been doing this solo thing for around three years now, and in that time I've played all over the UK, played with some great folk such as Frank Turner, Al Baker, Chris TT, The Tom Fun Orchestra and Damien Dempsy, and generally had fun.

It's all about playing live for me. You can come and listen to the songs on this page any time you want, but the treat is in the live gig which may only come around every so often. With this in mind, I want to play everywhere and anywhere throughout the next year or so.

My email address is dave-at-davehughesmusic.co.uk if you want to get in touch. I also keep the website updated more often than this page, so go check it out sometime.

NO I've RSVP'd to both, would be deadly embarrassing to be at the wrong one on the wrong day! :p

Yeah, I can see how that can be a problem. Unfortunatly the Edinburgh scene seems saturated with Hardcore bands. I know of several metal promoters but no folk or punk ones. I'm sure there must be someone around though.

There is one Edinburgh acoustic punk band called Billy Liar, you could maybe get a gig with him, or he could help you out with a promoter
Craig

Jun 16 2009 10:08 PM

I see, so you don't do Green Day covers with Mandolins then? That's refreshing.

If your playing in Edinburgh I would reccomend Studio 24 as a venue if you can get it; easily the best in Edinburgh if you ask me.
Craig

Indeed, I discovered a lot of music from his comics. So, a folk/punk band? Sounds interesting, though how do you combine Green Day with folk music?

Personally, I'm more into 80's hardcore like Minor Threat, Black Flag ect. but when you play Edinburgh I'll try and check you out.
