Re: Tim Powers: basically, when I think somebody might be cool, I make them read either Last Call or Expiration Date, and if they don't like them, I never speak to them again. It's draconian, but it works.

I did go to one of the Fantastic Fiction readings. The content was great, but I have to admit that the whole scene felt a little clubby to me (cool-kid clubby, not glowstick clubby). But I should probably get over my junior high issues and go anyway. They do host awesome readers.

Take care,
kb.

Hi, David -

Thanks so much for the friend request, and nice to meet you, too! I think you're the only person I've ever met that I didn't have to clue in to Tim Powers' brilliance. Maybe I'm just hanging out with the wrong people, though.

Best,
Kelly

Hi David. Thanks for accepting the request. It's always nice to 'meet' other writers in the genre especially when they seem to be doing well, as you appear to be.
Wishing you success and hope you enjoy writing as much as I do!

I thought of you yesterday. And again today. And I wondered how you were. I imagined that one day I'll bump into at an airport in years to come and we'll have a jolly fun chatteroo, then we'll leave on separate planes. And years later we'll meet at another airport and have an even jollier chatteroo there.
You know, I went to North Carolina and Texas this fall and I kept a look out for you at all 4 airports.
For some reason I just think this airport thing will happen. Wouldn't that be fun!

Hope you're doin' grand.
Much love,
~Moo

Hey, thanks for being a friend to the anthology. And because you're a friend, I'll do my best to keep the mutants and marauders off your back while you're in the ruins searching for the last remaining cans of food.

What's the anthology? Glad you asked:

soooooo....this is my THIRD myspace comment to you, and how many times have you sent me a comment...ZERO! I thought we were tight David, come on. My OTHER cousin sends me comments. You are so in danger of being kicked off my awesome cousin list. And BTW I heard from your mother that you aren't going to be at Thanksgiving or X-mas...LAME. But I GUESS that's okay as long as you'll be at my wedding. If not, we're gonna have some real problems. COMMENT ME BACK now, k? Byeeeeee
PS- when are you gonna write a story about me?
Liz

Sep 14 2006 12:14 AM

Hey Dave, thanks for hanging out with me at the UCLA writer's fair! Those panels were helpful.

"Idiocracy" was funny, despite the simple storyline, but I got very depressed towards the end. It all seemed plausible. Not just plausible, but inevitable. Great . . .
