Giving you a reason to go to out at night.
I'm a Richmond, VA based artist and musician. I'm currently playing electric piano and organ for Southside Funk and LarJar. Southside is an 8-piece powerhouse of funk and jazz music, we perform regularly at Emilio's in Richmond and a number of other venues. LarJar is an organ/bass/drums trio featuring Larry(drums) and Jason Jarrell(bass). We hold down the weekly Wednesday night bonanza at Cary Street Cafe, playing a wide variety of funk, jazz, rock and electronic tunes.
As an extension of my traditional painting efforts, I also create live drawing projections to accompany musical performances. Using a Wacom tablet, Photoshop and a data projector, I can lay down visuals that develop in real time and react and grow with the music. The imagery is tightly linked to the music, and ranges from pictures of the band performing and interacting with the crowd to a developing world existing in my head.
In July 2005 I first accompanied Modern Groove Syndicate concerts with rapid sketches of the band in action in the basement of Richmond jazz club Fusion. Since then,I've tried to take it further, adding lights, and working with a number of local, regional and national acts in the jazz/fusion/funk veins.

you stay up until wee hours of the morning playing the keyboard like a rock star and I stay up untill wee hours of the morning studying neuroanatomy. I am jealous of you. And I miss listening to you play the organ while I nap on the couch :)
