The Gospel Colorado Community Church Music Family Life And . . . a whole bunch of other stuff.
With a heart for worship and an appreciation for good music, Dave LeMieux and House of Soul bring their own expression of funk, soul, swing, Gospel, jazz and fun to God music. Driven by the sincere desire to craft embraceable songs, the band is committed to reflect this pursuit through melodies, lyrics, arrangements and accompaniment that mirror God’s universal love for His people, to promote worship, unity and community within His universal Church. Led by Dave LeMieux, Worship Pastor of Colorado Community Church of Aurora of 7 years, House of Soul consists of a sometimes revolving array of accomplished musicians and vocalists from diverse backgrounds whose individual influences, including R&B, Classical, Jazz and Latin to name a few, are evident in the band’s eclectic style of music. “For the past year, Nicole Walters and I, with the occasional random but sheer genius visit from Chris Lang, have met on Friday mornings solely to write music,” says Dave LeMieux. “I believe we have, at least for now, captured the ‘sound’ of House of Soul, which I define as free with regards to genre, broad with regards to style, and wide regarding its message and appeal. Not that we’re trying to be all things to all people, but our band itself is full of racial, ecclesiastical and musical diversity. Our music is a deliberate extension of that.” Dave LeMieux and House of Soul is as comfortable playing grassroots Gospel like that of The Blind Boys of Alabama as they are the contemporary worship of Keith Getty and Stuart Townend.
Though from different backgrounds and musical experience, the residents of House of Soul are brought together by a common love of God, His people and toe-tappin’ and head-noddin’ rhythms to celebrate and share the joy, freedom and intimacy found in worship, and to simply have a funky good time. Dave LeMieux and House of Soul just completed their first live CD, Live in the Spirit, in June. “We’re excited to share this season that we’re in with God’s church, and what better way to do that than through a live recording? After all, a live record is much better than a dead one.”
