Dave Lionelli plays Acid Folk. His original mix of country, rock ‘n roll, and traditional folk music has been packing them in all over the San Francisco Bay Area since his 2003 debut, there’s a first time for everything… With his feet in the 70’s, his head in the 21st century, and teamed with his exceptional partners in crime The Butter Band, Dave’s classic melodies and humorous insights are the new evolution of modern acoustic music.
Born and raised in Connecticut, Dave has toured the country and shared the stage with some incredible musical talents throughout his lengthy musical career, including Crosby, Stills & Nash, Elvis Costello, Santana, and Steve Winwood. The 2007 release of Acid Folk, Dave’s first full-length album, is the culmination of over 16 years of impressive artistry, and the realization of an artist coming into his own. After playing sideman to the likes of Zigaboo Modeliste of the Meters and Bernie Worrell of Parliament/Funkadelic, 2007’s Acid Folk is the sum of these experiences, from the acoustic funk of (Stuck Inside A) Glass Cage, to the back-porch country of Condemnation; from the modern rockabilly of The Great White Wail, to the R&B soul of Be With Me. No stone left unturned, no genre left untouched, Acid Folk keeps you hooked until the very last moment.
Dave Lionelli is continuing to push the boundaries of acoustic music into the 21st century. Flanked by the winding bass lines and rock-solid drumming of The Butter Band, Mish Mash Music calls it “…a sound born in the 60s, with the benefit of musical hindsight to mix it up just right for the modern listener, never letting it get stale.” Armed with superb lyrics, catchy melodies, and a driving rhythm, there’s no telling where the road will take Dave Lionelli and The Butter Band.
Thank you for adding me to your list of friends. I really appreciate it.
I am thrilled that my romance suspense novel 'Love On a Carousel' with it's 12-song CD soundtrack is due out this fall. 5 of the songs are uploaded on myspace. A short description of the book can be found on my blog. A limited number of CD's are now available on my profile page.
Wishing you continued success and a great musical summer.
