Dave Loughran's got the good's, so I put him in your face
I came across his beat on that street they call "MY SPACE"
His style is unique and his charm is winning
But its his MUSIC that's got me grinning
Although distinctly different to most of his contemporary counterparts, Dave Loughran's inspirations are hard to ignore. With obvious reggae influences, his music is vaguely reminiscent of Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros. Heavy emphasis is placed on his guitar playing, which is extraordinary, especially with the counter-intuitive time signature changes. However, these seem to work well, and flow with the music. The most interesting thing about Loughran's music, however, is that almost every instrument you hear he plays himself.
Dave Loughran's debut album will be released on 27/11/06 so check him out on MySpace now.

Coventry born and bred Dave Loughran has been the most difficult person you’ll ever try to pin down Genre-wise. From rock to pop to folk, with shades of jazz and flourishes of blues he crosses all divides with impunity and doesn’t really care if that puts your nose out of joint or not.
On first listen, early comparisons to the emotive vocals of David Gray on tracks such as ‘Example’ give way to the more obvious and powerful influence of acts like Gomez upon listening to tracks such as ‘Three People’. ‘God’s Letter’ is slightly reminiscent of classic Tracy Chapman so the mix is more than eclectic enough to ensnare even the most cynical of music fans and keep them coming back for more.
Loughran describes himself most aptly as a multi-instrumentalist. His proficiencies include bass, drums, piano, and obviously vocals. Since teaching himself to play the guitar at the age of 9 he’s been on a one-man mission to free people’s ears of meager compositions, half-hearted sentiment and over-zealous plans for World Domination. As he says, “I am not trying to change the world, I just relate to people that have felt the heartache that compelled me to write my songs”.
