Ubiquitous disc jockey, assaulting eardrums all over Aberdeen in Exodus (Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, and the odd Friday) and Liquid (Thursday)
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone involved with the music scene in Aberdeen, and anyone else who genuinely loves music and is looking to add depth to their musical knowledge.
Back at home and trying to find some songs, but I'm having problems with the one with a little "ska" rhythm and a "eh eh eh eh!". There was another which said 3 consecutive times: what's the point? I know it's difficult, I should have asked you for the name when they were played but perhaps you can help me in the research...can you? :)
I still remember dancing "one way or another" :). "These boots are made for walking" and I would have died... Next time The Cure play for free in my town I'll give you a shout :P Sooo let's see how my last night in Exodus goes... Maybe I'll see you next year ;) Take care! x
Yaaay :) Can't imagine a best way to start the 24th, great music choice! I'll see you maybe on Monday/Wednesday...don't know yet, but I'll do for sure. Good to see you again :)
Surprise me :P...haha Mmm beating hearts baby or whatever by Bloc Party...don't know, it's going to be great anyway... I just hope you don't mind if I ask you to write me down some song titles, that's my request, thanks :). This year it'll be far easy to recognise me (birthday badget), I even don't know if I'd recognise you without music... So see you there then, can't wait!
Hey Dave, remember me? My annual visit to Aberdeen is set on the 20th of March...it's been a kind of tradition to let you know... If I'm right, you'll be working on the 22th (Saturday) night won't you? I'll probably spend my birthday in Exo then, sure it'll be great :) Hope everything's all right in there
I've got two versions of "A Hard Day's Night" I only just noticed. There's one which is fast and has more percussion than the other version, including a cowbell. It might not be a cowbell, but it's not a regular sound...there might also be bongos of some sort. The ending of that one is different too...there's no laughing or strange guitar effects. What's the story there? They're both studio versions...I'm sure.
Hope you are having a good Christmas season. I wanted to let you know that i'm coming to Scotland on Dec. 27th. We play Pitlochry on the 27th, Glasgow on the 28th, and then come back to Inverness, Glenfarg, and Edinburgh in mid-January.
I hope to see you at one of the shows!
Until then.......Happy Trails,
AP
Sufjan Stevens- Ring Them Bells (Bobby D) New Found Glory - Ex-Miss My Chemical Romance - All I Want For Christmas Is You (Mariah Carey?) The Kinks - Father Christmas Wham! - Last Christmas
and the whole Frank Sinatra crimbo back-catalogue (Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, White Christmas, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas etc.)
I saw Bloc Party live on Thursday and Banquet reminded me of Exodus and I thought...how would everything be in there? How are you? More free with you new schedule I guess... I'll try to come back on March, you may not notice it but Aberdeen is quite addictive... Take care!
I finally got round to getting CDs for on-the-go, making some tracklists just now. The new Minus The Bear single is soun ding pretty awesome just now even though it doesn't really fit in with anything that's going on in music just now.
And preferably try not to play those songs when I'm in the horrendously big bar cue...not that I'd expect you to know when I'm cueing at the bar...but I might get a fluorescent mohawk.
Or I might dress up as Tim Armstrong, in which you have to play "Fall Back Down" or "Roots Radicals". And if I come as Buddy Holly, Weezer will do just nicely.
What are you dressing up as? Don't tell me you're not dressing up because there *will* be people who will *make* you dress up. That's two *very* important words right there...."will" and "make". You have no choice :P
Right, Dave. You might have to play "Mo Money, Mo Problems". Because I'm going to dress up as Puff Daddy. Or P Diddy or whatever he calls himself these days. So I can get my groove on ;)
The Fiery Furnaces just released a new album...what a timely introduction Tropical Ice Land was the other week ;) I'll see if I can get plenty of new stuff this week.
right can you please play anything by prince, jimmy eat world, silverchair, incubus, radiohead, weezer, bjork and foundations by kate nash thatd be much appreciated *blush to the kate nash request*
obv dont expect one by each of the above bands just any bits and bobs you could maybe squeeze in would be awesome!
