|
| Bio | Double Award-winning Comedian/Actor Dave Moktoi has been a luminary on the comedy scene for decades. Dave realized he was effortlessly funny when, as a young student, he earned a standing ovation in 1974, Manchester, England just improvising to represent Africa at an International College Event.
Moktoi studied in Kamerun, in the UK, France, and Germany. He earned a Master’s Degree-Major Modern Languages, Minor French Comedy, Elizabethan Drama & German Modern Theater.
Dave readily quit his high school teacher job upon blazing to notoriety in 1980, becoming a full-time comic across Africa & Europe. The boldness of his social satire often put him at odds with the political establishment in his country. Moktoi has appeared on numerous TV shows including TelePodium, CRTV, As We See It. In 1990, Dave produced his own sitcom, "Dr Do All", which was a major event on CRTV and also at the FESPACO- the world’s largest Panafrican Film/TV Festival- 1993.
Dave has reached millions around the world with his LP’s, CDs, & DVDs. He was honored with The Millennium Award by the RememberAfrica Organization at the New York City Manhattan Ctr
Festival, 2001. He wound up migrating to the US in 2002. After a transition period serving as an Adjunct Professor while resettling, the 30 year veteran Comic/Actor is now ready to tour again.
Eyewitnesses say recent appearances with his new hilarious show "Hello Hollywood" @ Hamilton College and @ Gotham Comedy Club, NY were remarkable! Playing an array of characters, Dave makes crowds laugh at the daily challenges of African immigrants, at his own foibles as an ex-African comedy star struggling for recognition in US, as well as at western perceptions of Africa.
Moktoi brings a fresh, "primitive" touch to comedy, providing unique educational materials ideal for College setting, as well as warm humor for just any type of event.
