Dave O'Keys is a jazz, rock, funk, straight-ahead, bebop, hard-bop, modal, m-base, avant-guarde, metal, prog, salsa, samba, flamenco (well almost), urban, folk, established, anti-establishment, pastoral musician working in London. However, he informs me that he's not just a session-head. He plays and writes for worthy and un-lucrative projects such as his own band (www.myspace.com/porpoisecorpus), and the 21st Centary incarnation of Brian Abrahams' District 6 featuring Julian Seigel and Chris Hill, among others things, which still allows him time to work part-time at Knightsbrige Pianos (www.knightsbridgepianos.com) and do the odd function. He also likes to compose in a Classical vein. Here you can hear part of his setting of Keat's Ode to a Nightingale for Counter-Tenor and ten-piece mixed ensemble, performed at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2004, conducted by Stephen Joyce.
Meanwhile Dave O'Bass plays with www.myspace.com/stefanokalonarisgroup , www.myspace.com/joeyherzfeldandhooverville , www.myspace.com/elcetricoldwirenoise , www.myspace.com/pena , www.myspace.com/semtaquartet , and www.myspace.com/ritmosdacidade , among other things, which allows him time to persue a secondary career in pimping, and do the odd function.
I thought that they might want to mention a bit more about themselves - their hobbies, interests, aspirations, anecdotes, but apparrantly they can't be arsed right now, and myspace is just for promotion anyway. They also don't check this page much, preferring to attend to the Porpoise Corpus page more often.

"At last a follow up to Janette Mason's sparkling debut as leader. Alien Left Hand ....was well worth the wait…” Production **** Performance**** -- BBC Music Magazine
“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew
"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun. " -- Diva Magazine

That's a mighty big bass you got there Dave O Bass. Will you please tell Dave O Keys that Ode to a Nightingale is beautiful. Do I remember hearing that performed at Guildhall? x
