“Rave” began his career producing and engineering for Canadian bands that included 54:40, The Grapes of Wrath and The Doughboys. Ultimately it was Dave’s production work with “industrial” pioneers Skinny Puppy that earned him international recognition. Dave was often considered the band’s fourth member, co-writing and playing guitar in addition to his production duties. He produced, engineered and mixed nine critically acclaimed albums and ten 12” singles for the band - breaking new ground in the industrial genre.
Dave’s ability to fuse industrial, goth and electronic music brought him to the
attention of Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails with whom he’s worked with since 1994’s March of the Pigs singles remix album. Through Reznor’s label, Nothing, Dave went on to co-produce Marilyn Manson’ s “Anti-Christ Superstar” which sold over one million copies. Dave has gone on to produce, mix and remix for huge acts that include David Bowie, Orgy, Puff Daddy, Motley Crue, Sloan, Tool, Ministry, Love, Inc. and Monster Magnet.
Recently, Dave has produced and mixed for 16mm, Oakalla, Birthday Massacre and Xavier Rudd.
Dave, an artist himself, has pulled together an army of very talented artists and colleagues (including Bob Pantella, Alex Lifeson and Bill Reiflin) to form Jakalope; They have released two full length albums to date ("It Dreams" / "Born4") and are currently working on a third.
