Playing guitar seriously since junior high, I've been in hundreds
of bands and music situations. My "dues" included midwest dive bars,
concert venues, festivals, coffeehouses, studio recording, music
videos, showcases and churches, to name but a few. My music has been
blessed by being played all over the world on radio and video programs,
as well as the internet, and my songs have been featured on various
commercials.
For several years, I have been active in
Christian music. My former bands include Dark Spectacle and Holy Countdown, among others. Most of my projects have featured my wife since 1991, Barbe
Paris. Although primarily a rock player, I've never been one to lock
into a specific style. My current instrumental music is a meld of rock,
jazz, funk, blues, metal, fusion, folk, and classical. My arrangements
have been compared to Phil Keaggy, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, and Rik
Emmett.
My band The Dave Paris Group is a three-piece guitar-oriented modern rock/blues act that covers instrumental and vocal tunes and features Lead Vocalist and Bassist Barbe Paris. The band is backed up by drummer Robert Yoder. Our sets feature original and cover tunes performed with a musician-oriented precision that appeal to audiences not content with typical cookie-cutter music.

thats very cool, alot of this i know and stuff but i learned that if you want to make music that just comes to your brain you cant be limited of what you dont know, or even better yet, what you can hear, the more chords and scales you hear i learned the wider range of creativity is. I think the hard part is to make intrumental music like what Satch does if you havent already made a name of yourself, Same with Vai, they had to go through alot before they really got to do what they wanted. here's a guy i have been able to keep in touch with. His name is Jim Bonney, he writes for guitar music and concert band and orchestra music as well, im learning that being able to have sheetmusic to use to make music is very helpfull. But you have to do alot of ear training though. I will be interested in hearing your new stuff. Muisc is a universal language, anyone can sense what you want to display in the music. That why i think its so incredible.
well i would come out to the fair but im here in colorado until the 20th. Im just curious, what do you do to find a melody. I know you use it based off of the chords but, that doesnt always support a very vocal like guitar part, i know its a very good way to use arps when you improvise and stuff, but do you really use then a whole lot when you actually make a melody? i kinda learned from experience that songs that are songs that people like to hear like a song like Bad Horsie, contain atleast more of a free written sort of melody, bands like Avenged Sevenfold use more of a arped melody, its cathcy but i feel like it lacks an emotional part, but i guess its all part of perspaective, cause to Synester Gates he uses it more aprs very freely
do you ever try to mix the use of Aeolian with like a whole-half diminished scale? I have a song im working on that uses that structure. I need to figure out how to get my songs I've written on here. I hope you got some new songs, ive made two just on vacation. thatd be cool if you do

I've been taking a break from music. Spent the better part of three years working for an Electronics/Electrical Engineering Firm. Now I am teaching Electronics and Electrical Engineering at Indian Hills, and working on recording my next album.
