   Thank Goodness It's Folk 的自我介紹
關於我:

I produce and present a radio programme - "Thank Goodness It's Folk" which goes out live each Friday morning starting at 10.00 am on SheffieldLive! a community broadcasting station. It is also available as a live internet feed and downloadable as a podcast. I play mainly traditional and traditional style folk music from the British Isles. I occasionally play American music and also I am personally fond of some Spanish performers, such as Kepa Junkera, Susanna Seivane, Hevia, Budino and so on..........

I retired after 20 years of teaching in further education, undefeated I might add. I am still very active and to help pay my wine bills I run collectors folk at www.collectorsfolk.co.uk which is a specialist dealer in second-hand folk books. If you are looking for a book please ask me, I may just have the volume you seek!!

I support the rollercoaster football team which is Sheffield United and also Barcelona - who are not a whole deal better at times as far as a rollercoaster ride is concerned.

我想認識:

I am keen to hear from artists, agents and promoters who can send me CD's and promotional material of folk music from the British Isles for consideration on my radio programme.

Please contact me for my home address.

Please take a look at the kind of music I play (which is on my blog) before sending. The programme is eclectic but I am happy listen to everything. New singer songwriters aspiring to be pop stars are not likely to be played.

"Thank Goodness It's Folk" broadcasting to England's fourth largest city, 10.0 am - 12 noon each Friday,

Sheffield Live! - 93.2 FM

Broadcast over the internet on www.sheffieldlive.org

Podcast on http://www.canstream.co.uk/sheffieldlive/

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol on myspace...
Poem 230 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(see my blog for details):
CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY

As gospellers have said,
Beneath signalling skies,
On land dusty to tread,
A trough in a stable
Was the strawy first-bed
Of a divine baby -
The forgiving Godhead.

A season for new hope -
There then and here now;
The yuletide of goodwill -
There then and here now.

In respect of this chance,
Beneath bright or dark skies,
Faith's the star that we glance
Attending Christ's churches
And trying to enhance,
With singing and ritual,
Our God-loving stance.

TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001

Where traditions are not so rare;
    Sea, country and works scent the air;
A multitude of monuments,
    Planted tubs and patterned pavements.

The longish pedestrian malls;
    The remnants of defensive walls;
Historic buildings are a gauge
    Of the respect for heritage.

Wheat, rape and pines in the fields;
    Estuaries guarded by shields;
Long sandy beaches and wide scenes;
    Romantic-ruin go-betweens.

Rivers in parts licked by trees,
    Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries,
And crossed by practical delights -
    Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.

Fine churches headed at Durham;
    Football kits ad infinitum;
Kept castles - one for study;
    Masonry behind masonry.

And, with moulding-works out that way,
It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Dear Thank Goodness It's Folk,

Every time that we listen & write music... play an instrument... dance... act in a play... or work in some audio/image/video engineering process... something is healing inside...

When we share it with friends... something is healing all over...

Love can drive... in a simple way... everything

We are connected

Vibejays & Friends

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Estimada/o Thank Goodness It's Folk,

Estamos conectados...

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN

Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.

I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.

I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen.”

Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
