In 1986, having seen the inside gatefold sleeve of Iron Maiden's "Live after death", I decided that I wanted to jump off drum risers in skin-tight spandex, playing a Bass guitar, infront of a thirty feet tall monster with fire coming out of its eyes. My first Bass was rubbish, as were my attempts to play it. Then, somehow, I was asked to do a gig. This meant that I had to learn to play, at least a little bit. Twenty years later and I've continued learning to play, with the help of some much better Basses. I've played over eight hundred gigs, made three albums and several other recordings and been lucky enough to work with some fantastic musicians. I've never worn spandex, there are no photos, you can't prove that I did. I've jumped off a few drum risers, but have never shared a stage with a fire emitting monster. There's time yet.... www.davesetchfield.com
Hi Dave Setchfield! FREE DOWNLOAD available for the bonus track of my debut solo album "Something Different" (released by Lion Music in 2008). The track's called "Glory Of Life - Bass only version". Enjoy!
hi dave! ok here's the story :-) As Eric came to europe doing his international tour required the bands he played with to tune a half step down. Our singer who toured with him told us they played in Eb so when we got the gig with him we previously tuned our instruments down. Backstage rumors told that eric has always praised mr.big to play songs a half step down but they never wanted to do it. And it's the reason why he progressively lost his original vocal range. Anyway on this tour they were obliged to do it nevertheless the tour wouldn't happen. I think billy didn't change string gauge, I didn't as well for that gig. The tension was a bit losser but nothing too big to handle with the normal gauge. Hope to have answered your question! keep writing if you want :-) Fede

thanks for finding me on MySpace. What a FAB bass player you are! Loved the three tracks you have here on your site. Really good bassists are hard to find . . . and all in the same town as me. Lucky Ross!
Keep up the good music. Would be good to hear you live one day.
