I play the dobro (squareneck, resonator guitar). I play some lap steel and mandolin as well. I was born in Texas, grew up in Nashville, moved away several times and moved back. I currently play in the band the "Dry Valley Gamblers" out of Cookeville, TN. Sometimes I sit in with other Nashville bands and artists at various gigs around town. I generally love all musical genres and enjoy playing whatever, as long as it's real music made by real people. I have a "Myspace music" page because after much resistance to joining Myspace, my friend talked me into getting on here with a music page, so that's what I did, although I now treat it as more of a personal page. I am not on here to promote myself or see how many "friends" I can get. I am very blessed with many real friends, but I always like getting to know new people. I am a guy with many interests outside of music, so if you want to know something about me, write me, and if you don't seem too creepy or stalkerish, I'll probaly respond.
Some of my other interests are: photography, traveling, snowboarding, skateboarding, wakeboarding, wakeskating, mountain biking, soccer, footbag, hiking, camping, fishing, shooting, canoeing, disc golf, working out, psychology, sociology, Southern Appalachian music & culture, politics, science, philosophy, driving fast, beautiful women, eating good and being healthy.
It is a pleasure to have you as my new MySpace friend… I find your MySpace page, your talent and your enthusiasm for music pleason’ to many… I welcome you’re other MySpace friends to visit my MySpace page that I’ve dedicated to my admiration of many talented guitar playing musicians of many styles… Stop by check it out and leave a comment if you like… Thanks Ken…
Hey Dave. How goes it? I am recently engaged and always said if I ever got married I would want The Dry Valley Gamblers to play. Y'all interested? It'll prob be around April '10. Who should I contact about booking something? Thanks! and Hope to hear from you.
"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
