General
drawing, painting, photography, video games, substituting time on a computer for meaningful social interactions, good books, good music, good movies, a good roll in the hay, well-drawn comics, hiking, keeping the car pretty, trying to not give in to road rage, spending time with the kid. 
Music
anything except country has potential. pet shop boys, new order, the offspring, green day, lightning seeds, sisters of mercy, oasis, enigma, depeche mode, cowboy mouth, billy joel, the killers, the klf, meat loaf, pop will eat itself, and on and on and on. but no country. the ipod is almost full, but only half of it is music, the rest is television. and porn. but don't tell anyone, that's a secret. 
Movies
sci-fi's good, but it's too easy to f**k up. chick movies are out, so are depressing endings. i want to see a movie as a break from reality, i don't want to have to think too much about it. my life is complicated enough as it is. i'll take 'mortal kombat' over 'million dollar baby' any day. (but the 2nd 'mk' sucked. good soundtrack, bad movie.)
i'm in an oldies phase lately. blues brothers, gladiator, moulin rouge, saving private ryan. sunshine was absolutely breathtaking. i've been known to use serenity as my nightlight as i drift off to sleep. don't judge.
Television
west wing, futurama, animaniacs, batman | superman | justice league (the cool cartoons), aqua teen, robot chicken, ghost in the shell. started getting into the new battlestar galactica, but the dvds are too f**king expensive. i'm a battered smallville fan, the show has hurt me yet i keep coming back. watched all of firefly three or four times now, same for band of brothers. rome rocked, and i'm getting psyched about heroes 3. also working my way through the original star trek dvds. i've got the first season, two and three are getting hard to find. hard to fathom, considering how expensive they are. can't wait for the pacific edition of band of brothers. 
Books
loved stephen king's early dark tower books, not the later ones. go with the first 4, don't bother with the last 3. you just can't unload a truckload of bowling balls with a pitchfork. orson scott card's good at times, preachy at others, and any isaac asimov gets the dave seal of approval. plenty of star trek books, but there's only a few authors who do it well, and the genre seems to be dying. (kirk and company only, everything else blows.) re-read my dragonlance books to bone up while the 'lost chronicles' books come out. the 'harry potter' books will be due for a re-read in another year or so. in the meantime i'm boring my brain with a star wars book.
