Dave and Anni are two fine singers whose enthusiasm for traditional and traditional style song comes over in their powerful peformance which has grown from their involvement in traditional music for over 30 years. Their first love is accappella singing, whether solo or in harmony. Both acknowledge the debt of gratitude that is owed to source and early revival singers who have helped to keep alive this wonderful singing style. Dave and Anni are busy performing for folk song clubs, folklore societies and festivals, both at home and in the USA and Canada. They present a good cross section of material from the delicate solo to the rousing chorus.
Anni's intuative harmony adds color and depth to the duo whilst her solo performace is clear and sensitive. From the North East of England Anni is a "Geordie" and presents an unusual reportoir featuring dialect songs from her own area. This has earned Anni a well deserved reputation in English traditional music circles as a fine singer.
Dave sings with a rich and powerful style. His love of this music is clear in his performance, from the gentle and plaintive traditional ballad to the stirring chorus song which inspires even the most reticent audience to join in. Dave is a native of the west country and particularly loves the music from that area.
Dave is also a song writer of note with many of his better known songs often assumed to be traditional. Foremost among these is probably "Lady of Autumn" although many of Daves other songs can be heard as far afield as Australia.
While Anni and Dave are much sought after in the U.K they also perform regularly in USA and Canada. They have regularly delighted audiences on both east and west coasts of America since 1990.
Apart from their concert work their recordings are frequently featured on national and local radio stations and have been used for television. From time to time they combine their talents with other performers in musical and theatrical productions.
Dave and Anni have made several albums which feature their duo and solo performance and have appeared with other artists on many more. All of their albums are recorded at MARS Recording Studios in Chesham Bucks.
Dave has published a book of his self penned songs all of which are written in the traditional idiom.

As gospellers have said, Beneath signalling skies, On land dusty to tread, A trough in a stable Was the strawy first-bed Of a divine baby - The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope - There then and here now; The yuletide of goodwill - There then and here now.
In respect of this chance, Beneath bright or dark skies, Faith's the star that we glance Attending Christ's churches And trying to enhance, With singing and ritual, Our God-loving stance.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Poem 213 of 230, walkaboutsverse.741.com: MORE AMOR PATRIAE
There is Tai Chi AND there is tennis, Line is fine BUT so is Morris, There is curry AND there is the roast, And, when England is playing host, It is the rest-of-the-world's good wish To sense culture that is English.
Thanks ever so much, you two. I sincerely hope our paths cross one day before too long. My stepfather, Ron Hardy (now 76 and sadly demented) hails from Tow Taw. His mother Jennie and father, Andre, ran a Pub in Tow Law for years.
