Inspired by many solo artists and bands, Dave Wilkinson began writing songs less than a month after picking up a guitar for the very first time. This resulted in the track Miss Experienced, written about an ex-girlfriend.
After Miss Experienced came Long Way Home, which Dave co-wrote with friend and fellow songwriter Ben Thornham. These two tracks seemed to open up the floodgates for Dave, which encouraged him to enter a recording studio for the very first time in 2003 to record his debut solo EP (YOUNG, GIFTED & BROKE) at Fairview Studios in Willerby, where he met John Spence and Andy Newlove. This experience made Dave even more determined but further projects were put on hold when he went to University in Middlesbrough. While at University, Dave continued to write until his return to his beloved Hull in 2006.
After meeting producers Liz Holmes and Tim Bowman in a café in Anlaby, Dave decided now was the time to record, resulting in his latest acoustic album (WORK IN PROGRESS).
Consisting of songs new and old, WORK IN PROGRESS has helped Dave get back into music and even resulted in an appearance on BBC Radio.
WORK IN PROGRESS is OUT NOW. To find out where you can get hold of a copy, keep watching this page or contact Dave at davewilkinsonmusic@hotmail.co.uk
Dave has recently appeared on BBC Radio, promoting his new album and is currently arranging gigs around Hull, where the album will be available to buy.
Songs are currently being written for a new EP which will hopefully be recorded between Easter and Summer. Tracks already confirmed for the EP are: Stories, a sad song written about a man who used to drink in Red Lion. 10,000 Phone Calls, another track about an ex-girlfriend. Shit, I Fell In Love Again, quite obvious what this one's about.
The EP (yet to be titled) will be available to download soon.
