From the late 70s into the mid 90s David Apps was the drummer and a founding member of The Manufactured Articles, Asano Macabre, The Beat of the Beast, The Cow Said Yes and Spunky. During his career David had also shared a stage playing along side of Nick Cash of 999 and Edd Tudor pole of Ten Pole Tudor.
After The Swankers/The Strand a certain Wally Nightingale was replaced by Johnny Rotten as the band metamorphosed into the Sex Pistols. As fare as history has been documented it is thought the only other band Wally played with was The Beat of the Beast. He sadly died in 1996, a lost soul with unfulfilled dreams.
At The Beat of the Beast farewell gig David was to drunk too play so passed his drumsticks over to Vom Ritchie of Die Toten Hosen, had Chris Dollimore of Del Amitri on guitar and sang a painfull rendition Anarchy in the UK. Before smashing his drum kit up David spent two years with his last band Spunky, and then gave up music.
Over the years spent playing in bands David had met, played or become friends with most of the people he had grown up listening to. With endless stories he then wrote a book on his tails entitled: A Drum Beat Behind, this will hopefully be published sometime in the near future.
With his manuscripts written and the dreams of fame left behind him David then turned his creative mind to photography. In 2003 he picked up a camera and hasn’t put it down since. With an eye that captures every moment in his wonderfully thought provoking way David has become a remarkable creative photographer in his own right. On his web site there’s no information written about him, because it’s simply not necessary, every photo speaks for itself.

Throughout my life I've met most of the people that I'd admired, including Glen Matlock & Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols, Mick Jones & Paul Simonon of the Clash. Poly Styrene from X-Ray Spex, Jayne County, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Damned. The lovely Gaye Advert & TV Smith of the Adverts. The great Nick Cash & 999, Andy Ellison of the Radio Stars. The lovely Bill Legend of T-Rex, along with many others. But the high lights were when I met Mick Ronson of the Spiders from Mars. My junkie hero Johnny Thunders of the New York Dolls. Marky Ramone, the amazing Ramones drummer. And last but not least, the one and only Spike Milligan.
